propstuff
Title says it all; I'm making a set of new standards for the office. The database for running General Notes can be run over the server, but I can't work out how to do the same thing with Title blocks and borders? Can it be done? Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
use an alias or a shortcut to the file that oyu want to be the standard Quote Link to comment
propstuff
That's what I thought Jonathon, but it doesn't work. The Drawing border dialogue can't see the alias. (in Windows at least) Quote Link to comment
marek.dk
We share the titleblocks as referenced symbols from the network. Is working very well. Quote Link to comment
propstuff
Hi Marek, When you say "referenced", what do you mean? Are you placing them into a Drawing Border with the Drawing Border tool? thanks, N. Quote Link to comment
marek.dk
there is a file on the network that contains the title block as a symbol. I add that file to my favourites in my ressource browser. from the target file i rightclick on the titleblock symbol in the ressource browser choosing reference. Now you can see in your workgroup reference dialog box that the title block file is added. When you place a drawing border you can choose the title block from the "top level" or "drawing border components", not from the "default" file. There is one bug in vw. when you make changes in the title block file the symbol in the target file will automatically update, but you need to doubble- click and press ok on the drawing border before the title block is changed. good luck. propstuff
I just tried it and it worked a treat. I hadn't used Referencing before. Thankyou very much Marek N. Edited February 7, 2007 by propstuff Quote Link to comment
marek.dk
If you are an office with more than one person working on a project, you should learn to use workgroup referencing. learn everything about it, it?s worth it. Quote Link to comment
