One way to accomplish this is by the use of discreet layers, and then using the new stacked layer mode. If you have the layer option set to "show others" only the active layer will be rendered. Keep in mind also that although one mainstream use of layers is to separate different levels (or floors) of a building, there is nothing that prevents us from having more than one layer with the same "z" values.

CORRECTED: I should have said set to "gray others". Additionally, the other layers are not *exactly* wire frame. But give it a whirl, and see what you think...

Thanks guys

What I'm looking for is something like the render tool, but applying directly on a unique object. It must be simple to handle without complicated splitting to different layers etc. The idea is to get an instant tool just for a quick check.

Just a wish for the future of a great software.
