Pillar edges not showing in section VP

Skia_D

Question

Anyone else having this problem which recently emerged after never having this issue before, to wit: the edges of pillars (which I have used for years to create chimney pipe and cap) won't show up in a section VP. I had to convert pillar to a NURBS to be able to get the edges to show. I'm in discussion with VW support on this one but thought I'd check here as well.

I created a very simple, brand new file with just one pillar and one section VP. Problem is still there, with same NURBS workaround. I've tried multiple different VP settings, even though the settings I have used in the past posed no issue. I also checked this out on a file produced in VW2023. As a VW2024 file the problem is there.Screenshot2024-05-15at1_06_33PM.thumb.png.91663750fee32dfc4fa139cce2805456.pngScreenshot2024-05-07at2_30_56PM.png.d61491ba9d72acd263116f9dcead6133.pngScreenshot2024-05-07at1_37_50PM.thumb.png.33722f4b4f968366d6ab5033dfe9f05a.png

This is a known issue (VB-199963).

I also noticed if you ungroup the Pillar object, the generic solid from it renders correctly.

I added your file along with my finding to the bug report.

Thanks, Matt. Good to know. This does beg a question: why do the "Technical Support Specialists" not know this kind of thing? It's taken 8 days to get any kind of real response from my initial inquiry (beyond "Please upload a file,") and when I sent a reminder to get a response, the reply was "Following up on your issue here, unfortunately I have tested this out on a few machines and have not been able to get the issue to repeat on my end. Can you try updating to Update 5 and then send over a screen recording of the steps you are taking as well so I am making sure I am following along exactly. If I am able to get this to reoccur I will need to escalate it to our engineering team." It was only then that I decided to post here. And yes, I did initially check the Forum to see if anyone else had mentioned this. Couldn't find anything.

Maybe I should ask, having never gone this route before: is there some search method to find these known issues which maybe exist outside the "Known Issues" forum?

I cannot speak for the tech support process but, when searching the forums, I typically search all of them or at least the ones in under “General”.

OK. So "Known Issues" identified with a number such as this one (VB-199963), aren't necessarily accessible unless perhaps someone like you posts it? Like, there's no running catalog we can see? I did do a search of all the forums and came up empty, hence my posting here and reaching out to Tech Support.
