Matharchi
How do I assign a direction to a layer so that the hatches automatically follow this direction? Here, the hatch pattern is directly applied within the roofing style. Thanks Quote Link to comment
markdd
I'm afraid I don't think this is possible. However, you can edit the Hatch Locally to get the orientation you want by using the Attributes Palette or the Attribute Mapping Tool. When you get the orientation you want then Right Click on the Hatched object and select New Hatch from Locally Mapped Hatch. This will do exactly that and you can maybe name the Hatch with the Layer that you are applying it too. 2 Quote Link to comment
leecalisti
I had this problem before - used a polygon with a different hatch as a workaround. The local mapping could also work, but watch that it doesn't change when you create PDFs. I have a long story about how this made a small mess with a tile installer on a construction site, but when I fixed it, I didn't even try to tell the story about Vectorworks hatch directions. We wonder why we like rectangular buildings following the x and y axes. Quote Link to comment
