How do I stop all viewports updating when trying to add a new one?

I am trying to put several different images on one sheet layer but every time I add a new viewport all previous ones update to the same as the new? How do I stop this happening?

The 'cancel viewport updates' is greyed  out

In the other thread that you started yesterday asking the same question, @Pat Stanford gave you some suggestions on how to correctly do what it sounds like you are trying to do.
