Peter Telleman
Hi Everyone, I've made a base plate truss symbol with a magnet. At the moment any type and shape of truss can connect to it. How do I adapt it to only allowing Prolyte 30V truss to it? In the same way you can't connect trusses to each other that aren't the same type. Added is the baseplate I've made thanks a lot, Peter baseplate experiment.vwx Edited December 15, 2023 by Peter Telleman Quote Link to comment
markdd
Right-click on the Truss baseplate and select Customize. Fill in the "connectable with" field with the same information as in the Prolyte truss. That should do it. That information is passed to the symbol which will continue to hold that data. Peter Telleman
@markdd When I right-click the only customize option I get, is "customize truss" symbol data, which doesn't have a "connectable with" field. What am I doing wrong, or am I not seeing? Have you tried my symbol, maybe I already made a mistake there? I'm using VW 2024 Edited December 15, 2023 by Peter Telleman Quote Link to comment
markdd
Sorry, yes Customize Truss Symbol Data is correct. You should get this dialog 1 Quote Link to comment
aheininen
You need to input Length also Also remove second magnet from symbol, just leave one level with baseplate top plane. Look example from VW library Prolyte H30V baseplate. Quote Link to comment
Peter Telleman
@markdd@aheininen Thanks a million guys! Quote Link to comment
Peter Telleman
@markdd Follow up question, If I want both H30D en X30D to connect to a baseplate, do I just add an extra connectable? Quote Link to comment
markdd
Add a Semi-Colon to the "Connects With" field. Edited December 22, 2023 by markdd 2 Quote Link to comment
Peter Telleman
@markdd Thanks a lot again. But I'm going one step further now, is it also possible to have triangle an square truss connect to the right spot on a baseplate?? so have two magnets on a plate to connect those two types?? I get that I could just make one for square and one for triangular, but it would actually be nice to be able to have both connect to the same baseplate 🙂 By the way, once I add the second trusstype to the "connectable with" field, the magnet turns 90 degrees, I can probably re-arrange this in 3D edit, but I wonder why it does that. markdd
Why don't you just put a single magnet at each location you want to connect to? Quote Link to comment
Peter Telleman
@markdd That's exactly what I mean, but how do I then assign the different truss type to each magnet? Edited December 27, 2023 by Peter Telleman Quote Link to comment
markdd
You can't unless you can manage to specify particular "genders" for each connecting Truss Object. Then you can specify in the Magent what the magnet connects to. This is a hack though and the Truss Tools are not really designed to do this. You would be better off making two Symbols and using the correct one for each particular Truss that it connects to. If you are worried about inventory counts, then you can set up a worksheet to count by Truss name as opposed to Symbol name. 1 Quote Link to comment
Peter Telleman
@markdd Not too worried about inventory count, but I was just really curious it it could work on a single baseplate. But I probably just make two different ones then 🙂 Quote Link to comment
