Create resizable substructure block, similar to autocad dynamic block

I'm looking to create a symbol for an extension substructure that we use all the time.

It uses a couple of different wall styles & a slab.

The idea is to insert the symbol & change the width & length of the extension either with grips or the object info pallette, & the walls & slab all be adjusted accordingly.

Back in the day, I had a similar thing in AutoCAD as a dynamic block.

I tried to insert a door that has the functionality I'm after, i.e. you can click on a grip to resize it or type in the width & height from the object info palette.

I thought I could edit that to learn how to do it but it doesn't seem to be that straightforward!

You can associate walls & slabs, so that they are sort of attached to each other, and that might let you do what you want just by adjusting the dimensions of the slab object (with the walls following along). But this is not a feature I really use - others may be able to answer better.

 

If that approach isn't feasible then I think this would have to be done using a script of some kind.
