unearthed
I have a very simple site model - made from 3D loci. I'm trying to export the resulting contours from the site model as 3D. But result is always 2D - hopefully there is a method. I have tried just exporting the site model and have tried via Edit Existing Site Model COntours and selected and exported - but same 2D result. Using VW2018 on Windows. Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
I’m assuming this will work in 2018… 1. Change the 3D display of your model to “3D contours”. 2. set your view to a 3D view, not top/plan. 3. Make a copy of your model so you don’t lose your original site model. 4. ungroup the copy. This will give you 3D polys that can be exported nicely. This method is also helpful for reindexing contours… like when you are provided 2’ contours, but want 1’. 4 Quote Link to comment
unearthed
Thanks Jeff, that did the trick and nice contours come out the other end - but it's cumbersome - is it more streamlined in later versions? 1 Quote Link to comment

unearthed
Just coming back to this as a note to my future self. In some earlier versions of VW (2018 at moment) setting the flyover tool reliably works before exporting, whereas View>Set 3D view is unreliable. Quote Link to comment
