hollister design Studio
I've attached a file. Custom Door Leaf.vwx I'm traced down most of the post on this forum, watched a couple of videos, built and rebuild my symbol... but I can't seem to get this to work. I created a symbol out of generic solids Exported the symbol to libraries/defaults/door - custom leaves Saved the file, turned off and restarted Vectorworks. opened the Door Settings/Leaf/custom leaf Found/selected the custom leaf. The result looks like something pushed the wrong way through a black hole. Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
I have found that custom leaves work best when symmetrical front to back. Your symbol is quite complex + not symmetrical + includes handles + hinges which probably isn't helping. Handles should be added as a separate symbol via the Hardware settings. Hinges can also be included in the Hardware if the leaf width is fixed. The symbol also included planar geometry (circles) + was page-based not world-based. If I make it symmetrical it works: But I know this isn't the design you want... This isn't to say you can't have non-symmetrical door leaves. This is one of mine for example: But for some reason it really doesn't like your one... Perhaps try around with different configurations of geometry + see what works. You can probably achieve a better outcome than my very quick attempt at knocking it into line. Or if it's a one-off door anyway that you're unlikely to be using many times + in different sizes, create it as a fully custom symbol. Then you can make it as detailed as you want. It's always a trade-off between detail/accuracy + the benefits of PIO functionality. 1 Quote Link to comment
