Site Model floating 5,000 ft above the ground

Hi all,

I can’t seem to get this workflow figured out nor find it in all the videos we’ve watched. We thought it has to be fairly simple but we’re missing it so we’re reaching out. Every time we import survey data and create a site model, it sits at its true elevation on the page — which, locally, is 5,000 ft above the ‘ground plane’ on our drawing — so everything we add to that layer (text, dims, massing models) sits 5,000 ft below it on the ground plane. Can someone please give us the workflow to set the ground plane equal to an elevation point of the site? Thanks so much!

The 'Send to Surface' command will raise a Massing Model up to the surface of the Site Model but depending on the terrain you will probably need to lower it a bit to embed it in the ground. Or place them on their own Design Layer with the appropriate layer elevation. Ditto text/dims can be on a different Design Layer + use layer stacking order to place it above the site model in Top/Plan. Or add text in the annotations space of viewports rather than on design layer which is the recommended practise.

 

But the short answer is you should set the layer elevation for the site model to 0 as you have done so that the terrain is at the correct real world height then set the elevations of your other layers to whatever heights you want to be building things on the site.

 

Plants can be at 0 too as they automatically send to surface on insertion.
