Grid settings for each layer

It would be very useful have independent grid settings for each layer.

This would allow for example the grid to be displayed in the design layer, but not the sheet layer, or different grids in different design layers according to their function.

Or is there a way to do this already?

I put my gridlines on their own Design Layer, that way they can be turned on / off as needed in the different floor plans. You could also assign different grids to separate Design Layers, with the caveat that you cannot have gridlines with duplicate numbers.

Yes, it could be done with a grid as an object, but I was hoping to be able to use the VW Snap to Grid feature this way.

Sorry - I misunderstood what you were asking. You were asking about Reference / Snap Grid settings, not Grid Line objects.

This is what I thought too! But actually, being able to have layer settings for the Reference/Snap Grid would be no bad thing. I like to have the grid on sheet layers often but rarely on the design layer + it's a pain turning them on + off all the time...
