BJRobinson
Sometimes for quick mock-ups I use 3D polygons as garden beds, etc on sloping sites. Can you snap a 3D plant symbol to the surface of a sloping 3D Polygon? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Set the Working Plane to the surface using the Set Working Plane tool in the 3D tool set and you should be able to snap your plants to the angled surface. Quote Link to comment
BJRobinson
Thanks Pat. Tried that. But I can't seem to get it to select the surface of the poly. Only a flat plane in the X or Y axis. Here is an example of a typical one. It has many grades to it. So I am assuming that the select working plane tool is looking for a flat plane?? 3D Poly.vwx3D Poly.vwx3D Poly.vwx Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
When you said 3D poly as mock up, I was expecting something simpler. 😉 Try this. Command location are from the default Designer workspace. Duplicate the poly, select it and AEC:Terrain:Site Model from Source Data. You should now have a Digital Terrain Model that is bigger than your original poly. Duplicate the poly again and select it. AEC:Create Objects from Shapes. Make a Site Modifier. In the OIP set it to be a texture bed and to edit the Existing property of the DTM. You should now be able to see your planting area (texture bed) and snap your plants to it. Now we just wait for the real landscape guys to correct me and tell us a better way to do it. 😉 Quote Link to comment
