Zrasap
Hello, I made a custom truss symbol, with a custom UID, saved it in .vwx and made a custom library. When importing it into another file and trying to do a calculate all object, gray lines appear instead of colored ones. As I understand it, the UID that I made for this symbol is not imported, what can I do with it? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
UUID is a Unique Identifier that will be different for every single object in the drawing (and hopefully in all other VW drawings also). You can't use UUID as an identifier to specify colors for a class of objects as each one will have a unique UUID. How did you make the symbol and what do you actually want it to do? Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVanHassel Posted January 30, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 30, 2023 @ZrasapDid you run a Braceworks calculation on your custom truss? The grey box from your screenshot is usually what happens when you run a calculation on a truss what does not have structural data and is instead set to Rigid. Quote Link to comment
Zrasap
@JustinVHYes, i run Braceworks calculation. Maybe I didn't formulate the question correctly. The fact is that structural data was not imported from my user library and I do not understand what I did wrong. Can you tell me what should I do to get it imported, or can't it be done? Zrasap
@Pat StanfordI made a custom truss symbol, and in change cross section menu, appointed custom structural data. And when applied this symbol in another project, structural data not imported. What i did wrong? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVanHassel Posted January 31, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 31, 2023 @ZrasapThe fact that the user created structural data did not get imported is works as designed. Custom structural data can only reside in the document in which it was created and cannot be imported or transferred to another document. This is a safety check put in place by Vectorworks and the developer of Braceworks to keep potentially incorrect and non verified structural data from being spread through the user base. I am afraid if you want to keep the custom structural data on the truss you created you must stay within the document, add it to the truss each time that you use it in a different document or work from a template file where the truss already resides. 1 Quote Link to comment
