Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted December 5, 2005 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 5, 2005 Hello LarryAZ: 1. Is the linked layer using automatic lighting? Automatic lighting doesn't cast shadows. 2. OpenGL doesn't cast shadows. 3. Is your light set to cast shadows? 4. If you are using Final Quality RW mode it uses raytraced shadows, but if you are using Custom or Fast with Shadows it generates mapped shadows whose resolution is determined by the bounds of the model. If your model has a huge ground plane you could lose all the shadow resolution on the relevant parts of the model. HTH, Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Is Automatic Lighting the view -> lighting -> set ambient? I got it to work by turning this off, but now I can't duplicate the problem by turning it back on. I'll confussed... Also my view ports for my elevations don't have shadows. I've changed everything I know about in the RB for the view ports. I created a new view port from the 3D view and it shows shadows. ???????? Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
I'm not getting any shadows in FW or OGL render on the drawing I'm working on. If I render the main floor layer alone, it works but if I render the 3D layer (linked roof layer and main layer) no shadows. I can't find an option that would shut them off. I know I'm missing something simple. Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Dave, What is the command for Automatic Lighting? Is it the set ambient command or something else. Nothing shows up when I do a help search for "automatic lighting". Thanks, Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Larry, try adding a real light source by using the "set sun position" command. Quote Link to comment
