NArchitecture
Hi! I've recently updated the master template file that we use on new projects including various viewport/pen filters and some other items. Is it possible to 'import' the new template to an existing file, do reduce the need of otherwise copying and pasting an entire project to the new template? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

Pat Stanford
I don't think what you want is possible. A Layer By Layer Copy/Paste In Place from the old file into the new combined with Copy/Paste in Place of Viewport Crops and Annotations would probably be the best way. But I am not certain. Perhaps my post will draw out a better answer. Quote Link to comment
Llama Architect
Hi, we looked at similar process but in the end we set up using a saved setting in the eyedropper tool to copy and paste viewport properties/ visibilities etc, so we copy 'looks' from a library file. [That method could also copy specific layer visibilities, but we have all projects with a unique job number as part of every design layer name so that bit didn't work for us.] Quote Link to comment
MMGD
Found this topic based on what I was hoping to do - to apply a new template to existing file. Any updates on this? Otherwise I guess pasting layers from project file into the new template style is what's needed.... Quote Link to comment

That's the cleanest way. But if you use a Story/Level System - this will not transfer. That may cause problems if you use PIO Styles relying on Levels. Also transferring Sheet Layer Viewports may not be lossless. With both files open, in Resource Manager you can easily import any resources like PIO Styles, Renderworks Stiles, Backgrounds, Symbols, .... easily. You can import Classes or Layers from another file viaNavigation Palette. Objects via Cut and Paste in Place. VW and Tool Settings are stored in User Folder, file independent. And there is a work around for Story/Levels import by a Marionette. So it depends on what data/info is needed from your template file if it makes mores sense to import your current file into a blank file from template or vice versa. Quote Link to comment
