AdamG
I am having an issue where I am unable to drag symbols from the resource browser. I am also unable to select symbols using the insert truss and insert lighting instrument tools. Any ideas or help would be appreciated Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted September 16, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 16, 2022 Try updating your libraries. From the Resource Manager click the gear icon and select Refresh Libraries. Quote Link to comment
AdamG
I tried refreshing the Resource Manager and that didn't fix anything. This is an issue that I'm having across every document file I have. It's even occurring on new documents. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
What version of VW and what operating system. Probably best to add that information to your signature so it is always there to help with troubleshooting. See instructions in my sig. Quote Link to comment
AdamG
I'm using VW2021. I'm trying to upgrade to both 2022 and 2023 but I keep getting an invalid serial number, but that's a separate issue I'm trying to fix with support. I'm thinking this is something that got corrupted in my software and I need to do a fresh install. It was working perfectly fine and then it wasn't. Quote Link to comment
AdamG
I've managed to upgrade to VW2022 ( VW2023 still gives me an invalid serial number message when I try to upgrade) and I'm still having the same issue. Is there any kind of setting in VW that disables dragging from the resource manager? I don't know when I would have disabled it but this is frustrating as I've been unable to do any work for five days. I did migrate all my data from 2021. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted September 20, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 20, 2022 Quit Vectorworks and try deleting your RMCache folder. C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek\Vectorworks RMCache Quote Link to comment
AdamG
Where would I find the RMCache folder on a Mac? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVH Posted September 21, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 21, 2022 It is through the Go menu but you have to make sure to press option so that Library reveals itself. Here is a screenshot of the path. Quote Link to comment
AdamG
Thanks Justin. There isn't any Vectoroworks RMCache in my application support. This is what's there. Any chance I can send someone my file and have them take a look at it. It's been almost a week and I've been completely unable to work on any projects. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted September 21, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 21, 2022 @AdamG From your screenshot is looks like you are in the main Library folder, you need to be in the user folder. User:<UserName>:Library:Application Support:Vectorworks RMCache: Quote Link to comment
AdamG
There is no "library" folder under my user name. The main library folder was the only place that I found "Application Support" Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
As Justin said above, Apple has hidden that folder to make it harder to get to. Go to the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the Option Key. The Library folder will be come visible. Select it from there and you will be able to do all the normal Finder things with the files inside of the Library. You will have to repeat the Go menu step every time you need access to Library. Or do as I have and put a shortcut to Library in the Sidebar of the Finder window. Quote Link to comment
AdamG
I found the RMCache and deleted it. But that didn't resolve the issue. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVH Posted September 22, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 22, 2022 @AdamG At this point I think it is best to reach out to tech support to see if they can help you resolve the issue. I have included the link to the support request page. https://www.vectorworks.net/support/help Quote Link to comment
