  1. So I happened to look at BimX, the new navigation app for ArchiCad. It looks like a game changer as far as in the field communication goes as well as for client education. Does the mothership have plans to port this to Vectorworks? The virtual reality capability of 2017 is kindergarten compared to BimX. What can I tell my potential client whom would rather stay in a Vectorworks environment that they should not switch to ArchiCad? -J
  2. Hello, I need a link where Vectorworks says that Oculus Rift and other variants are supported. I've been searching for such and can't find. Is there some place where Vectorworks states that? If yes, please provide me the link. I really need that. Thank you!
  3. I've been using VW web view export quite a bit recently. It's really good, but I'm looking for the next step up in terms of control/ quality - ie. that I can easily import VW model and tweak (not a unity style rendering engine)! Anyone have any suggestions for vectorworks compatible rendering packages for generating vr type models? I've tried sketchfab , anyone tried any of these: twinmotion lumion enscape prospect vizor yulio vr
  4. During the AIA Conference on Architecture 2017 in Orlando, Florida from April 27-April 29, global design and BIM software developer Vectorworks, Inc. will be at booth 2863 in the Software & Technology Pavilion. Vectorworks will offer personalized Vectorworks Architect software demos and presentations on features that enable designers to complete any project in any phase of design. Upcoming immersive technologies will also be previewed. Vectorworks Architect is an industry-leading architectural design and BIM software that helps connect the entire design process from concept to construction in one platform. From 2D drafting and 3D modeling to creating coordinated construction documents and fully developed BIM models, Vectorworks Architect’s broad set of design and BIM capabilities allow architects to do more than just information modeling, while increasing productivity and unlocking creativity. With Vectorworks, designers can take on a project of any scale, from urban planning, high-rise buildings, to interior renovations and fit outs. “Depending on the types of projects or the phase of design, an architect’s workflow can vary greatly,” said Dan Monaghan, vice president of marketing at Vectorworks. “This can lead architects to use many different software programs to get jobs out the door. Although BIM is essential in today’s processes, the truth is, as an architect you need more than BIM, and Vectorworks offers more.” Furthermore, Vectorworks Architect has the largest number of import and export capabilities in the industry, allowing designers to seamlessly collaborate and share with everyone involved in the design process. During AIA, attendees can take an in-depth look at Vectorworks Architect by scheduling a personalized demo. Specifically, there will be demo stations of 3D laser scanning, advanced 3D modeling tools, virtual reality and BIM. DEMOS There will be three new immersive technologies in the years to come that will offer new ways to view and present models to better sell clients. Demos for the following will take place at the show: -Previously introduced with Vectorworks 2017 in September of 2016, web view and virtual reality will receive substantial usability and visual improvements, such as ambient occlusion. -Using panorama capabilities, designers and clients may experience the model in wide immersive view. -Using an iOS® or Android™ mobile device and a 2D floor plan, designers may benefit from Augmented Reality technology to view a 3D, virtual version of their model on top of their plan. Email Vectorworks’ Senior Marketing Program Coordinator Samantha Link at Slink@vectorworks.net to schedule a demo of these technologies during AIA. 5. Hi everyone, I have some trouble with the webview/vr that came with vw2017. Lately I observe, that the export takes like forever. 3D-model hast 123MB export in lowest quality gains 44MB but takes 10+ minutes to create (when choosing not to upload on vw-server), it has 79MB and takes almost 30 min+ to create. It also takes the same time when uploading to the VW-server, this was way quicker a few days/weeks ago. What happend here? Def. not a problem of my internet connection - see screenshot for speed. I can't do anything with vectorworks while it is exporting because there is that beachball constant spinning. I also exported just the logo, and this took also more than 10 minutes....?! //Way quicker when every lettre is seperate and not in a group. ;-) When opening I get a lot of script-issues...see screenshot. It says script is not answering and might be damaged. Some 3D-Elements look weird now - e.g. screenshot Wish Change the opengl at least to 3.0!!! 2.1 feels like doom or duke nukem back in 1998 :-/ This is not state of the art and customers are very unhappy with the quality atm. FYI: MacBook Pro Late2013 i7 2,3Ghz // 16GB Ram // Firefox latest So is there anything I did wrong? Is there anything I could help? I really think this is a great feature and I want it to be better! All the best from germany, volker
