I often only want the outer lines of a given 2D object that I've imported., e.g. this set of roof line work where I only want the outer roofline. I realise a lot of these lines cross into the inner space (and I'll need to trim them) but just getting the outer ones in a selection would remove a tedious small repeted action. I want to do this with drawn elements, and items like surveyor's TINS, and also the jumble of objects that results from exploding .pdfs (where there is normally only a single layer in the drawing).

Hi all. This viewport is rendered background=unshaded polygon. Has anyone experienced the unwanted diagonal lines, indicated in green, attched? Seem to be associated with a re-shaped wall....any comments welcome. Rendering in opengl solves the problem. (I used unshaded polygon because it renders two extrudes semi-transparent, the ones showing existing gables of this extended house.) 200511 GA Tech 1.pdf

Hi Guys: So, Spotlight 2018, clean install, nothing merged with 2017 (also installed). Macbook Pro 2015. I've created some trusses with some symbols of Tyler GT Truss, grouped them, and then converted to Lighting Positions using Geometry. Whenever I mirror a lighting symbol, I'm getting some additional lines appear as a part of the Trusses. I can't edit the 3D of the Truss to get rid of them, and if I select the lines and delete, the trusses disappear too. If I delete the Truss, and then mirror over the opposite truss, and rename it as the deleted truss, the Lines disappear, and the fixtures remain in the correct 'Position' I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this, is it a Bug, or have I screwed something up? Perhaps the grouping of the truss symbols prior to creating the hanging position is causing some confusion? Many thanks Smiffy

Hello! Today my 3D area appears all weird with a "saw" shape and I dont know what is going on. Yesterday it was good. This is the second time it happens to me. Any idea whats happening and how can I solve this problem? I really hope that I dont have to do all over again, because I dont have much more time to work on the project and do it again from scratch. Thank you!!!

Hello, I've accidentally deleted a class related to the door tool, specifically the Ceiling-Main class. It appears that this class is automatically generated after the first use of the door tool to control the visibility of overhead lines for RCP creation. It seems that deleting this class messes up the whole door tool since I can no longer toggle the overhead lines off. I expected the door tool to automatically generate the class once again, but it doesn't do that. I've already tried creating a new file and importing the exact class back into my file, but that doesn't do anything either. I want to know If I can somehow recreate this Ceiling-Main class to avoid starting over with a fresh file. Thanks, Raymond

Forum, It's been a while since my last posts, hopefully you're all well! In among other things I'm tutoring a series of very creative Post-Graduate students with theatrical backgrounds. One of them came to me with an idea that currently I can't solve, perhaps some of you out there might. Without a serious amount of tracing we wish to create a structure that looks like this: ... however has the outlines of this: I've tried several things here - Trace Bitmap Commands Layered Photoshop Files in Broken Layers Exporting Paths created in Photoshop to Illustrator to then save as .dwg and open in VW. (Self intersecting geometry during extrusion got me but it's the closest yet!) Now I'm asking for input. How would you approach this and create this series of extrusions? I've included reference files and a .zip containing the PSD with individual layers available. Any input welcome! Stay safe otherwise all. - J Stacked_Layers_Examples_-_PSD_and_JPGs.zip

I'm having a problem with vectorworks 2015. When I import a dwg or any other drawings I get lines that extend all over the drawings and boxes that appear with nothing in them, some of these seem to relate to text which appears all jumbled. I'm not sure how to prevent this from happening. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
