  1. what I mean is that one I have set the fonts, sizes and spacings for the Keynote title and body text, can I then save the style so that new Keynotes on other layers will pick up the attributes?
  2. Is there a way of setting the Keynote defaults for the whole document and then saving them? Also how does the column break work?
  3. In my opinion Sketchup is great as a stand alone tool, but combining with Vectorworks is not practical. We ended up using the excellent tape measure and dimensioning tools in SU and then re-drafting in Vectorworks
  4. I really hope it can do what I want it to do in accurately scanning small buildings and transferring to Vectorworks in usable form. Unfortunately the video clip doesn't really tell me this. An interesting concept but really you need to clearly demonstrate it's full and proven capabilities before expecting us to blindly place an order for $380!
  5. My smart cursor hints stopped showing recently. I can't see an option in VW Preferences to control them. Is there some other way apart from re-setting Preferences which is a bit of task?
  6. VW need to seriously sort out the stair tools so that they are easily usable particularly with winders. I struggled a lot yesterday and ended up with a compromise.
  7. Hey, that's good for the rendering although it doesn't deal with the multiple layer problem that I have. I've now copied and pasted all the layers into a new VW document and given them all the same layer assignation but individual classes. It's a bit long winded but seems to be working so far! AJ
  8. I'm having problems importing a usable version of a clients Sketchup model. It imports ok but all the 3D components are on separate layers. I can't see why it's doing this as looking at the SK model in it's own prog there don't seem to be layers. Is there a way to bring it in as a 3DS model?
  9. Oh, I see, I'll ask him to try & save it as a version 7. Many thanks Andrew
  10. I'm running VWD2011, I just tried importing a clients Sketchup8 file but nothing is visible in my VW file. Any one any ideas? Thanks
  11. Yuck to track balls. I wanted an ergonomic and light mouse, The Magic mouse is no good for CAD, it's a looker but not comfortable and also heavy, I researched and got a Logitech M500, it's corded so very light, it's quite large so fits the hand really well, it's fully programmable with any shortcut you want, you can use it all day and realise you are holding it- highly recommended and inexpensive. I've thought a bout a Wacom tablet- not sure, brilliant for graphics apps though I hear.
  12. Any news on the bi-fold doors Jim? Before I consider spending out a lot of money on 2014 or 2015 I would want this function as my projects are 90% domestic extensions and bi-fold doors are just about the most 'wanted' feature. I just don't understand why an architectural programme doesn't have them unless perhaps you don't have them in the US? If this is the case then NV is short sighted as it a global market now and the European one is large indeed. It's disappointing indeed to hear that you haven't made the stair tool more usable because most buildings whether domestic or commercial have more than one floor!
  13. let's hope they listen but I suspect they will drip feed each year to keep revenue coming in. Personally I find it very frustrating as a small business, I want to upgrade from 2011 but it's going to cost a great deal but I'm not sure that the lack of basic improvements to doors, windows, stairs and kitchen cabinets are there to justify the outlay for me. I thought your 2014 wish list was spot on, a shame so little was acted on.
  14. yes Christian is quite right. It's really disappointing if the VW people haven't improved the door tool after all this time. 3D improvements are fine but if we are being asked to pay out hundreds of ?s for annual updates then we need the basic architectural tools to be right up there now and not drip fed. I'm still unclear about what positive benefits VW2014 would offer someone like me.
  15. I've just opened an email from CU, the VW 2014 brochure isn't easy to view but at first view I'm dismayed to see that still after two or three releases of asking we still don't have a custom bi-fold doors tool. As an architectural designer this is one of the most obviously missing functions. Also we need the same tools as Windoor within Vectorworks, I don't see why we should have to pay for an add on programme, it should be an integral function of VW Architect. Also is the stair tool any easier to use does anyone know yet??
  16. You are right, there are some templates there but not all, the rest are in Applications, Vectorworks, Vectorworks 2011, Libraries, Defaults, Templates. It's odd that there are two locations and I'm not sure how one selects a preferred location to save them.
  17. I swapped to Mountain Lion a while ago and now can't see where my templates are. They show up fine when I select a new document from template under File, but I can't see them anywhere. They are not in the VW libraries/defaults. I just tried making a new template and saving to the VW location as above and it worked fine. I'm just curious as to where my other templates are filed..
  18. maybe duplicate the triangle and give it no fill, then just alter the opacity of the filled triangle in the attributes palette, group if needed
  19. Yes it's quite a basic VW omission after so many years of the existence of walls! Andrew
  20. is it possible to join walls of different thicknesses end on like a butt join? For example like the attached?
  21. I used to be able to drag and drop text in Vectorworks, I think it was the 2008 or 2009 release. I'm using 2011 now and can no longer do this.
  22. don't you need to re-size the image in Photoshop then save as a jpeg?
  23. Does anyone know of a good clear video of how to do this? I've looked at the Vectorwork one on You Tube but it doesn't work too well for me as it's too quick and doesn't clearly explain all the detailed stages. thanks
  24. I use VWD2011 on a MBPR 15" linked a Thunderbolt screen in the office & on it's own at home. I'm really happy with it and would highly recommend.
