  1. I don't really think that you are looking for that, but can't resist: but may be this is of interest for you http://www.landrudesign.com/DefaultFrameSet.htm?index.htm~LandruMnFrm
  2. bcd is right. Just ungrouping the 3D Elements of the Symbol did the trick. There was no alignment hidden forgotten Geometry at all. Its a bug. Thanks for your help.
  3. Nice workarround. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Hallo, I've tried it, if the textures are applied to the Parts Column by Classes, the textures show in plane Mode. I couldn't find a possibility to set the textures to Perimeter.. Looks like a Bug If one texture is applied directly to the whole column, or through the OIP, it appears in Perimeter Mode. regards Horst M.
  5. Hi, As far as I understood: - a HDRI Background s a Dome and therefore reflecting in the Surfaces of the Object - a Backgorund is just ---> in the Back! so there is nothing to be reflected http://www.google.com/search?q=HDRI+textures&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=k24-TqTsGsWh-Qb77MTDAg&ved=0CGMQsAQ&biw=1324&bih=760 I like this: http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/the-hdri-handbook/id413717022?mt=11 others sell paperones.. 6. Hallo, Since a while (SP4?) I have the issue, that the slection Boundaries of Hybrid Symbols in 2d Top/Plan View are off the Symbol. If I switch to a 3d View, the Selection Boundaries are as expected. I have checked the 2d Part of the Symbol, and there is no extra geometry. I have just one Class and one Layer in the recenet File, that's shown in the attachement. Anybody else seeing this? Any Idea what could cause this effect? regards Horst M.
  7. Hi Grant, Like 7 steps above in the same thread there is the solution for that "Misbehaviour" Yes it works!!
  8. Hi, I found, that a texture that came from VW to C4d and is modified in C4d doesn't get overwritten during merging changes from VW2011! If you change the Texture on an Object it gets overwritten, even it has the exacatly same name as the original VW texture had. I'm currently experimenting with the C4d MAterial Exchanger Plugin, to restore overwritten textures. regards Horst M.
  9. If you have time, you could try to ad your Profile Symbols to the default file where VW takes them from ... may be that works....
  10. Thats at least a (good) sign, that even this tools once in awhile get updated. So then. have fun extruding along the path!
  11. ja, shure that works, but you lose the advantage to edit through the OIP ... so you could also draw lines and use the Extrude Along Path tool on copies of the Profile ....
  12. hallo seforrest, I wildly edited your test-gradient without any problems.
  13. Ups sorry. that's what userprofiles are for ... Here it is for 2008... Like I say, there are so many tools and Toys... And it can become a lenghty dicussion if they save time or Steel time while you try to convince them to make what you need. In this case the 2d Representation of the resulting object is less nice than the 3d result. May be we once get Hybrid Symbols, that just show the "hidden Line" Render of the 3d or dashed Hidden line or custom 2d ....
  14. I attached my Testfile to my last post The gate to heaven is at the very bottom of the OIP "Select custom Profile" :-)
  15. you can select custom Profiles from your Workfile, if you create your desired Profiles as Symbols. The gate to heaven is at the very bottom of the OIP "Select custom Profile" :-)
  16. Joist from Polys ... sounds interesting. There are sooo many tools and toys .... The framing member Tool is in the Detailing palette of the Designers and Architects Workspace. Check out the jpg with an example. I discovered the tool recently, while i was trying to find a useful workflow to create Walls for a Container...
  17. Hallo, You could try using the framing member tool. Create 2d section of your Profiles as Symbols, and use these within the tool. The only drawback is the, not really usefull 2d representation of your drawn Framing Member. Horst M.
  18. Wow, Kaare, that's pretty holistic: while looking for something that you think you need you find somthing that you didn't even know you need, but that is way more important or at least ... sexy! cool! Personally I'm glad, that I'm not as incompetent as I thought after reading mikes Post
  19. a pitty if you are mistaken, I would prefer that its me making the mistake, The method sounded sooo smart.
  20. Hallo BCD, I have tried what you suggest, and can't get it working. If I Edit the Viewport, I get the attached Dialog window. I can't get VW to create the Camera itself... If I create a Camera inside the Viewport myself, the View gets linked to this Camera, and the Viewport changes to the View from that new Camera. What I'm doing wrong? regards Horst M
  21. @ B. Keesey I did some tests with the Send to C4d Command. The Exported File Is now stored in a Temporary Folder. -TMP- If you do a "save as ..." to a Folder of your wish, you lose the textures. I use the Export C4D Comand, it produces the same FIle with the same name as in VW and and places a "tex"-Folder with png's of your textures where you store the File. Horst M.
  22. I opened the "Skecth_Styles.c4d" File located in the Renderworks Section of the VW2011 Programm Folder with C4D R12 and got the attached Message when I quit. Thats one think, that I can reproduce, what caused my wrong impression... I have to look if I find a C4D file that is directly exported with 2011 SP0, witout being saved by C4d. I again apologize for my wrong Statement. Horst M.
  23. unless they have been lifted rotated also..... I'Ve been working withe a seating layout with for 1000 Chairs (Instances of a Symbol in VW) on different levels. After the Export I received 37 Instances and 963 Groups for the chairs. Excuse me, that I forgot about the 37 Instances while I was trying to clean the FIle. You would have made me jump arround like a child if you would have stated that this is also on the to do List .... ? please! Juhu. So good to hear, because I really like to place the Cameras with VW, and it's cool to have the same view in VW and in C4d. you are the Hero of the Day So. RW is (now ?) C4D R12. That's cool. I confess, that I was Spying arround in the Sketch render C4D File within the VW/Renderworks Folder when RW2011 was new, and was informed by my C4d Installation, that the FIle was created with C4D11.5. Also The exported Files seemed to be for C4D 11.5 ...........progress! Anyway. There is new New Feature in C4D 12, thats specially made for Files that are exported from CAD Programms called Combine Scene, that does Wonders on these Files. But I guess it should be used only if there is no intention to make further changes on the exported FIle. Sorry for posting (some) Quatsch, and thank you Dave for all your positiv Informations Regards Horst M.
  24. Hallo, The Plugin you are used to is still supplied by Maxon and can be found here: http://www.maxon.net/de/downloads/updates/plugins.html But I think, you need at least C4d 11.5 That's also the Version of the Render Engine that is integrated in VW2011. It works fine as far as I know, but i miss the Export of My VW Cameras, that was there until VW 2009 (?). The new export Feature is not as smart as the Maxon Plugin, because it doesn't export Symbols which causes much bigger files in C4d, and a lot more work to figure out which VW element lands where is the complicated structured File with hundreds of groups and Subgroups.... Also the possibility to Update the Files is missing not really a progress.... I absolutely don't understand why they didn't continue with and integrate the "old" plugin into VW2011... regards Horst M.
  25. Hallo, It looks like thats the way we know Vectorworks. A new feature is never(!!) applied for the whole Programm just for some Functions under certain restriction and it's left for the user to find these restrictions. I don't know at which Version it was changed, that the SnapPoints of 2D Rectangle rotate with the Object. and the OIP shows still the lenght of the Sides, not the distance between the unrotated SnapPoints... With Nurbs and 3D objects it's still the case, that the SnapPoints stay Horizontal and Vertical no Matter how the Object is rotated. If it's just regular 2D Objects, you could (may be) get the Angle of rotation and Calculate the Dimensions. Just to think in workarrounds... regards Horst M.
