drawwhat?

hi,, i know how to resize and drag the pallets around and customize the tools in them,,, But I have made the Basic tool pallet long and skinny so now the bottom is no longer available ! I Pull the whole thing up AS HIGH AS I CAN BUT STILL CAN'T SEE OR GET TO THE BOTTOM I can't get to the little corner to re-shape it, I can't get to the arrow at the bottom to take some tools out so the box will be shorter so I can resize/reshape it ! HELP !

on another but similar note. I have a piece of wood 8" x 4' x 1/4" thick that I want to cut a curved detail shape into, like several korbles . ? i have drawn it in 3d, but how do i modify the edge? how do i draw the detailed shape to cut out, and have the results in 3d. Do I draw the finnished detail in a freehand polygone and then extrude it ? it does not seem to get into the same x, y, z, plane as the rest of the shelves I am trying to attach it to. ps, i'm in Vancouver today and it is their ThanksGiving weekend, so Happy Thanksgiving to you. pps, back in the USA now

perfect.. thank you,, just like I would have expected, but did'nt have the forsight. -I was just looking at drawing up something like it that way. Picked '3D polygone tool' then after that I 'tabbed' thru the values and entered the dimensions I wanted. Getting the right isometretric "view" helped. but then do I get to hide lines afterwards? or is there rendeing or something?

Let's say,, I just want to draw a simple shelving unit. and for presentation, i want to show it in 3D or perspective. it is not a wall and it is not a solid.. I usually draw as I would build, I draw a piece by length width thickness and assemble the shelve as I would in the shop. it would be cool to be able to do this with VW, even if there is a better way, which I would also like to know, but for now Is it possible to do what I want? I only have Fundamentals,,, Do I have to get a upgrade or different plug in or can i just draw. thanks Danny

I don't know where they came from, but I have these 'dashed lines ' running horozontal & vertical from points at the drawing edge? in pairs - I have looked at the show/hide guide lines but they wont go away... What could they be? how do I get rid of them? n oH ya,, they run to infinity, and I can not select them seperate from the drawing. i can't select them at all... . they outomatically attach themselves to the pasted copy, and move with the selection, but realign when the drawing opens. and defy any attempt to 'trick' them into getting left out

I get it to print to PDF. on my Mac it happens in the 'print set-up' on my Dell it comes from an Adobe set up as a print to comand, if you get the professional version of ADOBE Publisher or something like that. our computer guy has me hooked up with a free version ov 'print to pdf' - So if I understand it, it is not VW which needs to do it, but rather your print preferances that handle it. mines a Power PC G4 - couple years old - seems fine, but i don't render yet..

How simple though to have it done for you.. "Modify" to "Drafting Aids to "Line into segments" thanks Jeff, this will come in very handy 'down the line' Danny

Hi - I have changed all text, (not something I would do often, cuz some difference is usefull,) But if you want to,,- Select all - click 'Text' and select what size you want. maybe have to 'un-group' first? maybe not - but try it. Danny

Keith, That's what happened,, I touched the strip to Zoom and it went on and on by itself. I tried the tablet properties last time, no change - just said I needed to reinstall the drivers,, not a good outlook if this keeps happening. didn't know it was US to UK, no clue luck, Danny

hi nick, ,, I have coppied my VW files from my PC at work to my Mac at Home,, seems to import the workspace with it,, if ya wanna get specific, would you save your workspace as a template in .sta. and then take that to the mac? I just use a 2gig mem stick, and 'explore' my computer to transfer stuff. hope i didn't miss the obvious Danny

Not as simple as a keyboard on it's way out? - No help,, but once a day, my Wacom intuos3 tablet looses it's mind,, yesterday would not stop randome Zooming, today just sits there, doin nothin,,,, worked fine all morning but took the afternoon off,, restarting seemed to temporaryly help. and I have a backup regular trackball mouse.,, Can't wait till the guy come to Hook up my new Dell into the network, ,,, hope that fixes a bunch o craches. peace

Welll, I'm guessing and experimenting with it,,, But it sounds like I need to do my Dimensioning on a different Layer than my drawing,, - So I tried the 1" =1' scale,, (cuz it seemed like that is what you were saying about 'real world, or paper size?) and chose a scale of 1/4" for the drawing, did my dim's on dim layer, and it got a little better.. Mac seems to deal with it different that PC,,, anyhow,, it was still too big an arrow.. what's the differnce between Design Layer,, Sheet Layer,, and why did someone say I could use Class instead,, just wish the darn dimension would keep proportionate with the drawing... this may be a really stupid response, or missunderstanding, but , I was looking for a "fill Paint bucket "tool,, and then realized that there may only be a draw it filled as you draw, or select the fill from the pattern & then color option, ? you probably already have done that,, and it is a problem I don't have an answer for .. just wondering about redrawing the shape, or creating 2d poly,, after you choose the fill ? good luck though, lemme know if i'm way off on this? hi Grant, I do not use Viewports,, yet. So it is just design layers,,,,, It seems that sometimes the dimension looks to be the appropriate size on some drawings,, and sometimes not. It has always been obvious at small measurements around or under 1 foot, thanks Danny

I have a drawing at 1/8" scale,,, but the dimensions all have an emormous arrow, I tried coppying it all to a new template and setting the active scale to 1/8" first, before i pasted, thinking that I may have rescaled some objects along the way , but I got the same results,, arrows overlapping eachother in anything under 1' 4" - it looks so silly and wrong,,, it must be me ,, but how do i fix it?

John, So - I guess you found the Search over there on the top right of this screen,, with the calendar... I just investigated this pdf thing,, My first guess was that the "search" needs more than 3 letters to find anything,, so I entered "adobe pdf" and it returned a bunch o stuff.. good luck,, just enter more than 3 letter search words.. Hi,, every time something like that has happened to me, it had something to do with me 'Re Scaleing ' the drawing, and missing the 'check box' that has the option of including TEXT and Total Drawing,, so the text got left behind, as most of my imported DWG's come in at 1 inch rather than 1 foot,, so I just scale them up by x12,,,, Only other thing that gets me is if the 'view layer' option has somehow got the text on another layer, and i need to view/select/modify all.. but I never saw 'Too Small" to edit.. i'm new too,, no need to appologize for that, everybody was new once...
