  1. I import important notes and consultant drawing imports (usually PDFs) into the VW file (reference info) to easily review and have a record of this info as part of the file rather than having this info outside the VW file.  The info can be comments, reference info, text or images -

Do others manage this info within the VW file and if so where to put it - a drawing layer ?  this info can be removed when it is obsolete

  2. I am using the latest landmark version 2023 update SP5, on Mac running Ventura OS.

Plants and landscape areas are not sending to the surface of the site model.  The plants are on a separate design layer and I have selected the plants layer to be used in site model.  I assume there is a plant / landscape area setup.

When control clicking on the plants and landscape area, a dialog box opens asking where to send the selection.  After selecting the site model, nothing happens.  Choices for the plants to be sent to is HARDSCAPE or SITE MODEL.

I appreciate the forum and their collective knowledge -

  3. There are workflows for using the VW fence tool (with horizontal panels stepping on slopes) - a YouTube search for SU KNU will provide a terrific series of videos, one of them with a solution for fences on slopes that works - the vectorworks team still need to upgrade the fence tool (offset posts and panels for one) to allow for real life fence details (not every fence has all elements centered)

  4. The iMac worked well as a second monitor with Luna Display -

    Update:

The iMac power element died and so not iMac as a second monitor -

I switched to a 42" LG C2 TV and a Mac Studio and I like it very much - one screen large enough for a great VW drawing and multiple palette layout - the cost was reasonable including a visa mount and the adjustments (using dark mode to reduce auto dimming) works well for me - the resolution also works well - 3200x1800, 60 Hertz (I do not play video games)

  5. with the current VW release I again tried to develop an easy way to develop a planting plan then have the plant locations 'automatically' transform into drip emitters -  trees receive approx 4 emitters each , shrubs receive 2 emitters each -

having an automatic addition/connection with emitters to drip tubing would be icing on the cake -

I have not cracked a workflow in VW for combining planting and irrigation -

  6. To add on here, is a drawing stamp the best way to filter sheet layers for drawing sets ??

We want an easy way to develop sets of drawings for various use - Site Permit, Pool Permit, Fence Permit as the municipality requires separate permits for various improvements and we want to reuse sheet numbers within the sheet layers -

If there is another way to do this, it would be great to see -

  7. Update:

The VW setting for 'Save Palette Positions' under Window>Palettes does not work seamlessly and I assume it has to with the second monitor is an iMac using Luna Display App to convert the iMac to act as a monitor - When opening and closing files, the palettes rearrange onto a single main monitor -

However, when I quit VW and reopen a file, the palette locations are correct -

I contacted Astrolabe (developer of Luna Display) for a review and hopefully a fix, perhaps a setting/preference needs adjusting -

    More to come -

  8. The goal is to have a consistent palette setup every time I log on or open VW - right now I am relocating palettes every time I open VW or return to VW after using other apps:

I have 2 displays (LG main monitor and 2011 iMac via Luna Display) and I added the Moom app to control the screen layout (see images included)

Tech support at Moom says the palettes need 'titles' so Moom can place them on the screens -

I have included some tech info - I do see the issue that Moom cannot place the palettes and show 0,0 data for location

I am wondering if others have solved the palette placement issue (with or without Moom)

I am skipping VW tech support for now and am posting it to the experts on the forum -

Also this may assist other users and prompt the typical forum support -

  9. @Christiaan no lag when there is good wifi, otherwise the iMac has a blurred appearance -

Since I do not use it for drawing and it is used a s a reference monitor, it has worked well -

The iMac is also used for displaying PDFs of consultants drawings in stead of importing hand written comments / marked up drawings -

I will be posting another issue for the very talented Forum Team of Professionals (ie: the usual suspects 🙂 ) to consider, relative to using the Mac App 'Moom' for automatically organizing palette locations on both screens - right now every time VW is reopen, the palettes have to be relocated from the main monitor over to the second monitor (the iMac).

  10. For the vertical garden, I suggest a vertical plane with a texture from your favorite PNG image (with alpha transparency) showing a mix of plants as occurs in many installations (especially in Europe).

The image you show, wisteria, looks unreal as the flowers do not grow horizontal, but hang vertically -

I agree with Benson that VW is missing an opportunity to market a multi disciplinary design program (even though there is an option to purchase the 'design suite', which contains all the VW products ?)
