  1. "My guess" is that we won't see any significant cross pollination any time soon. A number of us have been asking for multiple views in VW for several years (never a response from NNA for or against). This feature has been available in Cinema 4D since I've been using it (~1999) and is common in many 3D programs. Maxon & NNA are part of Nemetschek and the most we've gotten is a $100 Exchange Plugin. This plugin is almost identical to the free one provided by Abvent for use with Artlantis.
  2. Petri's suggestion to copy & paste a Renderworks Camera object should do what you want. You can use a hidden line render with it even though it is called Renderworks Camera, just go to the drop down in the OIP and select the render mode of choice.
  3. Jim, I'd suggest checking Ray's solution first. If the Fill Style is set to SOLID, your image should render.
  4. Jim, If you go into a blank file & create an image prop, will it render so that the text can be seen? I can't cause the problem you describe in a file containing only the image prop. Your image is a jpg? Is the color of the text different from the background? I think you have my email from problem with an earlier image prop with flames. If you send me the jpg, I'll take a look. George
  5. Jim, Select the wall, check OI Palette Render tab to see which part of the wall it has been applied to (Right, Center, Left). If it is there, scroll down & check: 1. Map type = Plane 2. Scale - you may need to increase it for the prop to show. 3. Mapping or Attribute Mapping Tool to adjust position on the wall. 4. If it is tiled, deselect repeat H & V. It's probably there, just too small or on the wrong side of the wall. George
  6. Petri, As long as the shooting location is south of where I took this picture of my '66 AH Sprite, Fairbanks, AK, ~1968. I think that's a bit north of your location.
  7. Katie, In Wireframe, the grid & axis graphic appear during the flyover. In rendered modes, only the axis graphic shows. It makes sense for both to show during a wireframe flyover since it's so easy to become disoriented. The problem is that the grid & axis compete with the display of content in the drawing. It would be helpful to be able to toggle them on and off. George
  8. Jim, You can use an Image Prop. When you create it be sure to deselect the Crossed Planes & Auto Rotate to Viewer choices. The type of window doesn't matter, adjust the size & location of the Image Prop in your scene. It should rotate as you change your view like any other object & the text should be reversed in the rear view. George
  9. I agree, it would be nice to be able to have control over its display.
  10. On my setup (WXP Pro), the marker shows the point of rotation & disappears during the flyover action when Open GL. In wireframe, the marker & groundplane grid are visible during flyover. I don't think you can turn it off totally, it helps to let you know where your rotation point is before you begin & you can click to relocate it. On WXP, the previous suggestions have no effect on this behavior.
  11. John, I had the same problem with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro using VW Arch 12.5. Upgrading the driver fixed the problem. Start here: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html George
  12. That's a good one - never would have thought of it with VW. Autocad allows multiple copies of the program to run at once. This may be a carry over from an earlier release that didn't allow multiple files to be opened in the same copy of the program. How odd that something I saw as a shortcoming in AC has returned as a workaround in VW.
  13. This is the downside of the way RW is integrated with VW. You can either render or work with VW, not both. It's one of the reasons that VW users resort to stand-alone rendering solutions like Artlantis & C4D.
  14. If you do a search of the forum, you'll see that this has been brought up numerous times in the last few years. No indication that NNA has any plan to implement it.
  15. Stack Layers is a quick visualization tool rather than a working environment, I leave it turned off until I want to take a look at the whole project. You can use some drawing tools in a limited way. Katie's suggestion combined with Layer & Class visibility settings will help clean up your working view.
  16. The layer system is based on 3D containers that are often stacked like the floors of a building. It sounds like you are using them in a 2D environment as a means of adjusting visibility based on this comment: "Grahics are on another layer to ensure that they are always "on top" of other drawn content." If this is the case, you can adjust this "layered" visibility on a single VW layer by using: Modify>Send(Forward, Backward, Front, Back) There are third party plugins that allow selecting all the objects in one class, allowing you to move an entire class of objects at the same time.
  17. "Keep in mind, without the plug-in, Maxon cannot sell copies of C4D." Really? This plugin has only been around for about 4 years and is only of use to VW users who want an Artlantis-like link to C4D. I have no statistics, but I doubt if this comprises the majority of C4D users.
  18. Hard to resolve without more info from Jodyb17. It sounds like multiple copies of the same object being used on a number of layers. Create symbol, use Resource Browser, insert as needed in new file? Smaller file, no Copy/Paste. George
  19. I'm on a PC, had to add Import PDF with the Workspace Editor. George
  20. I don't know what you mean by "classes perform this way". Classes are used to define an objects attributes. Layers define the location of an object. An object can only be assigned to a single class and layer. The reason for the multiple copy/paste is because these are individual objects with the same attributes residing on different layers.
