  1. Thanks, Stephan. I have been working through the University videos, very helpful. But back to the contour for the gable notching, why do I see the width of the contour in my viewport? What does the width of the contour refer to, and how to I view just the cutout, not the width of the contour as well?
  2. @Stephan Moenninghoff - can you tell me how to notch this partition? I have a sink going here and want to show the cutout. Also - how is the InteriorCAD manual coming along? I asked some time ago and I think you said it was not far away. There is a lot of functionality within InteriorCAD that I know I'm not using - a manual would be ideal. Or a lot of tutorial videos. I see the marketing videos, and they look great, but they don't show anything in enough detail to be useful. Thanks VW2020SP6 Macbook Pro, Mid-2015 Mojave
  3. Thanks. This is helpful. I'll have to spend some time on my own files and play with the settings to see the effects. At least there seems to be some logic to this, finally.
  4. Ok, I got it. I understand about the display extents before cut plane settings. What is not abundantly clear is why there is a section for hidden object display, and then object display. But then within those settings are options for object display, as well as dashed hidden line pen attributes. Why would I need dashed hidden line pen attributes within the object display settings? Wouldn't that be controlled by the hidden object display settings? Either way, thank you for responding to my queries. It was very helpful.
  5. Ok, can you explain it to me? What settings would you use to see the counter above a set of cabinets, in a dashed line, light grey. Do I adjust the object display, hidden object display? Is the display set to dashed hidden line, or do I have to manually assign a linetype and colour for the class? Right now I've set everything to dashed hidden line, but all the lines are solid. To your question, the only class not visible in the VP is the nonplot class.
  6. Can someone please explain the logic around horizontal section viewport visibilities? What I want is to see objects above the cut plane, in a dashed line, in grey colour, or at least a lighter line thickness. I'm drawing a plan section of some cabinets, and I want to see the line of the counter above them. Why is this so difficult to do? I don't understand. I can generally get it work, after about 10 minutes of settings after setting try to change things to dashed hidden line, linetypes, grey colours, etc etc. Object display, hidden object display. C'mon. Must be a better way. In fact right now, I can't get it to work at all. I guess I'll just manually draw it in.... VW2020, SP6 Macbook Pro, mid-2015, Mojave.
  7. This happens to me too, at least to some extent. I find that rolling the mouse wheel with something selected makes only a minimal zoom change, as if I only clicked the wheel once. The same wheel roll with nothing selected and it zooms in or out a lot, consistent with the number of clicks I rolled the wheel. VW2020 SP6 mid-2015 MacBook Pro Mojave
  8. Ok, thanks for the reply. This makes sense now.
  9. What am I missing here. I can't seem to get this to work. On the design layer, are you using the clip cube to get the view you want, or is it done with viewport crops?
  10. Well, I went to create a file to post up, but it was working as I wanted. Now I realize that my 3D object in the original file was a solid subtraction. As soon as I create a solid subtraction, all the line of the geometry are lost. I suppose that's normal behaviour? Which is too bad. Why can't that part of the model remain intact I wonder?
  11. No one? I thought this should be an easy one. Surely I'm missing a simple setting somewhere whereby all the separate components that make up an extrude are merged together...
  12. Hi. Since VW2019, I haven't been able to view the geometry of my 3D models in a viewport. I used to be able to go into the advanced properties of a viewport and uncheck "merge structural objects with the same fill" box, and then see the lines of the components that make up a 3D part. Is there another setting I'm missing? For reference, these are millwork parts, MDF specifically, that I would like to see the construction of when I create a section viewport. See attached.... Thanks for any help. VW2020SP5 Architect, InteriorCAD Mid-2015 MacBook Pro
  13. It should be possible. I would like this feature a lot.
  14. For a while I had a problem with the purge command deleting everything in my drawings, so I quit using it for a while. I just checked, and it's working normally again. I haven't changed any purge settings lately. I really hope you didn't lose a ton of work! I'm on VW2020 SP5, mid-205 Macbook Pro, Architect, InteriorCAD.
  15. What is this extra frame, or ?? on my curtain wall? It appears with no fill, but is visible in all view. I can't seem to get rid of it. See attached: Mid-2015 MacBook Pro VW 2020 Architect, SP5, InteriorCAD
  16. I think this might be a bug. It happened to me occasionally on VW2019, and now 2020. I can't replicate it, however. I usually just delete the offending dimension and re-do it.
  17. Definitely check that snap to tangent isn't activated. This can cause some snap weirdness.
  18. Thanks, a very thorough response. I'll give this a try the next time it happens and see what's up. I'll report back if I can find the culprit. Thanks
  19. I keep getting this error message, even though the viewport name isn't being used by another object. Any one else having this problem? I always have to go back to the viewport annotations to change the detail number, it would be nice to just assign the number when I create the viewport. VW 2020 SP4, Architect, InteriorCAD mid-2015 Macbook Pro
  20. Is there a way to run 2 installations of VW on the same computer, using the same serial? I'd like to test out some software, but don't want to use my day-to-day VW as a beta tester. Right now, running a mid-2015 MacBook Pro, Mojave, VW 2020 . Thanks
  21. Nevermind. I think I figured it out. It's the actual colour of the class. I changed my background to be lighter grey, and the line colour of the class and I can see the objects again.
  22. I must be missing a setting. What is controlling the colour of greyed-out items while "show other objects while in edit mode"? I have VW2020, using dark-mode, and my drawing background is grey. The greyed-out items are showing is this pale yellow/brown, which is not easy to see. What can I change to make these items more visible? Screenshot attached. Thanks
  23. Using the keyboard to change to openGL is pretty quick.
  24. Thanks for the reply. It's getting there, what settings are you using for your viewports, ie: what rendering? I assume this is not top/plan. As for InteriorCAD, I'm mostly abandoning that for now. I just upgraded to 2020, and haven't yet purchased InteriorCAD. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work so I'm moving forward with simple extrudes to represent the cabinets.
