  1. I had checked/done the following but withouth result: * checked on corrupt workspace * checked on the preference settings file * deleted all my own files in the VW folder * reinstalled VW * reinstalled VW after uninstalled VW * updated windows * did a system recovery * did the registry thing Katie told me to try * installed a previeus version of QuickTime I tried a few other things I do not remember. But the strange thing is that VW couldn't be found in the software list, although it was installed. That still bothers me.
  2. nothing helped, even installing an earlier version of quicktime. I was forced to reinstall my pc.
  3. I downloaded the VW SDK, and I am trying to begin a new project. In the manual 'Using SDK Stationery' is the following: 'In Visual Studio .NET, select File|New|Project... . In the New Prject dialog that appears, select the "Visual C++ Projects" option in the left ("Project Types:") pane, and then select (single-click) the "VectorWorks SDK Plug-in" icon in the right ("Templates:") pane.' The problem is: There is no "VectorWorks SDK Plug-in" in the list. So what must I do in order to use de SDK? I downloaded it, but there are no other manuals or readmes inside that state how to install the SDK. Please help me, I'm new to this.
  4. My pc is in Dutch, so I do not know the exact translations to all things. I reffer to 'Configuratiescherm' wich is litteraly translated: configurationscreen. It's where you can set all aspects of you pc, like screen, mouse, etc. There you can also choose to see all programs on you pc, the program list. That's what i mean.
  5. nope, that's ok, I really need to have some work finished, so after everything done that i know of could be done, I formatted my pc and reinstalled everything, and now it's ok. but there is still something bothering me: why doesn't VW came up in the software list of my pc? (I am almost certain that the failure of starting VW has something to do with that)
  6. It was working yesterday evening, and today it wasn't. so I did nothing to it. 169GB free space on my C drive. I also noticed that in my configuration center under software, I can't find VectorWorks!? so my pc thinks it is not installed? I do not understand it.
  7. k, I've done it Katie, but withouth result. It stay's the same. ps: under HKEY USERS, there is no folder called nemetschek or vectorworks. I had to reenter the serial number like you said but there was also a warning that my quicktime was newer than version 7.xxx and that VW wasn't tested with it. So I set that back to version 7.xxx but that doesn't resolve the case. Other options?
  8. And where can I find those? And what are they?
  9. my VW won't start anymore. I have checked/done the following but withouth result: * checked on corrupt workspace * checked on the preference settings file * deleted all my own files in the VW folder * reinstalled VW * reinstalled VW after uninstalled VW * updated windows * did a system recovery I know that this may be not the wright place to ask this, but my local dealer is on vacation and i need to run VW today. And maybe someone had the same problem as I have. There is also other info that may be helpfull: When I try to load VW, it loads the first window. The one where the personly info etc. is on like name. Then it is searching for the version and modules. Then when VW normaly puts this on the window, VW shuts down. So between these steps, it gets wrong. (I do get the version and modules on the window). I hope someone can help me.
  10. Or it can be the way it is programmed. This tool exist longer then we have class overides. So maybe it is asigned the color of the class in the code instead of the class itself? or both. And as you all know, if you asign a color over the class, the class overrides don't work. We should ask the programmers.
  11. Or maybe there are other resources in your drawing? Like textures or images? because they add a lot of file size
  12. When making a viewport, you can select the layers in it. Or if you do not want to use a vp, just make the layer invisible.
  13. And that way it uses a lot of memory! I had problems rendering because of it.
  14. I tried to duplicate this problem, but i can get it. it's always showing ok. ps: How did you get version 12.5.3?
  15. while movnig the text, hold the shift key, that way the dimension line will stay on its place
  16. When I first drew in VW, I also used snap to grid. I thought it would be helpfull and easy. When I later tried not to do it (recommended from someone), it was strange at first. But finally it draws much more efficient and a lot easier. Just give it a try
  17. I do not think that is possible in VS, but I could be wrong
  18. But that tool is very easy to make, so I do not know why it is not in the original version.
  19. those dimensions are just for showing that the tool works like the pt2pt some people want. This is how I done it: I first created the line as kind of what movement I want. useally it is something already in the drawing. Then I select my shape I want to move (here the first rectangle). Then I select the tool 'Versleep' (I do not know how it is called in english). I can then choose to just move it, copy it or copy x of it. Here I have chosen to copy it. After choosing the mode, I just click on point one of the line, then on point two of the line. And the rectangle is duplicated and moved. So that's what many people here want. So it's actually in VW already.
  20. I don't get you guys??? This is IN VW! Just look better: you can choose to juts move the object, duplicate it once or duplicate it x times like an array. I use this a lot.
  21. I think that you have a corrupt workspace. I had that too once. just make a new workspace.
  22. This could also be done with the class list. Because that can become very long. I also would like to see sub-menu like thing for the classes, so that you can fold and unfold a group of classes. Like there is in the scroll down menu of the classes, but then in the navigation palette.
  23. I don't get it, VW is so easy and powerfull to use. I can create very fast what I want. I create things faster in VW then in ACAD. Even the 3D capabilitys are superior to me. Although every program can be better and sometimes I even encounter problems with some tools that are annoying. But I'm sure NNA is working on them. But there is one thing I don't understand: vector displacement. As far as I know (the way I understand vector displacement) this is in VW. I can move something ..x and ..y (being x,y the vector). I also can move with length and distance. So can someone explain to me what more is that vector thing?
  24. The shortcut is edited in the usual way. Go to workspace editor, select the tools tab and select the 2D selection tool from the pallettes window. When it's highlighted type the desired key. Once the key is selected it is shown next to the tool. I think in earlier versions when you hit the escape key you would see "esc", but now it's just blank for some reason. If it doesn't work maybe it's a PC/Mac thing. It just doesn't work, so maybe this only works on mac then.
