  2. Dunno how I did that, sorry G. Your script does the same as the downloadabel plugin mentioned above. i.e. it prefixes *all* classes rather than a select few, but it's still very useful for bringing data in via a quarantine file, as is the mentioned plugin. Thanks.
  3. This happened to me the other day, for the first time (at least that I know of). Thankfully I was able to eventually save a copy of the drawing I had open before closing it.
  4. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention too, one work around?at least for my example above?is to create a wall style with a lining and then remove the lining when you've finished drawing. Not very intuitive but it gets the job done (in this one situation at least).
  5. I'd like the ability to give wall components a class, so I can turn them off and on for certain drawings. For instance we draw plans at building control/construction stage for which we don't want to include wall linings. But we also have furniture and electrical layout drawings in these files (including bathrooms and kitchens) where we want the lining to show so we can set out the furniture etc. correctly and easily. The above ability would allow us to turn the lining on while we draw (as a guide) but turn it off otherwise. I'm sure there would be many other examples where this would be useful too. (It's been suggested before, I think, but I couldn't find it.)
  6. It would be useful to be able to nominate a Viewport to use as the attributes in a Saved View. Currently the quickest way to get to a Design Layer using the Viewport attributes is to go to first the Sheet Layer then ctrl(right)-click on the Viewport, then choose Edit Design Layer.
  7. This is excellent, thanks Kevin. It prefixes *all* classes rather than a select few but it's still very useful for bringing data in via a quarantine file. The problem with this method is that you either need to do them one by one (and the new classes need to already exist) or you have to flatten them all into one class.
  8. Just to add to this, even if you are organised enough to create Class Mapping files for all the different consultants you work, even then some of them don't use consistent classes (AutoCAD layers) and templates, so you still end up with errant classes making there way into your workflow. Being able to select a number of classes and shift them on the fly to a new sub-group (similar to the way you can reassign one class to another when you delete a class) is very close to the top of wishlist. It would certainly be one of those improvements that lowers office stress levels. Also, to be clear what I want is to be able to move: class name 1 class name 2 class name 3 to: new class 1-class name 1 new class 1-class name 2 new class 1-class name 3
  9. Low priority, but possibly trivial to implement: it would be nice to be able to click on any object, or group of objects, and have the size, or at least an estimate of the size?in terms of how much disc space it uses?displayed in the Object Info palette. This would be useful, for example, when tidying up someone's drawing (when they've pulled in objects from far and wide) by getting rid of unnecessarily data dense objects.
  10. This problem of wall components not showing in viewports I think is a bug, when opening a v12 file in an updated version of VW 12. Haven't taken the time to figure exactly what the criteria needs to be but I've noticed on a few jobs now.
  11. http://www.nemetschek.net/support/bugsubmit.php or bugsubmit@nemetschek.net You should be able to adjust the arrows under the General tab of the Settings window in the 2D Detail section.
  12. What about just having a preference option that allows for hiding 2D stuff when you go into 3D mode (like Stack Layers view)?
  13. The other thing to look out for, maybe, is that you've moved VectorWorks or changed the folder name in the Applications folder, while VectorWorks is still running.
  14. There's a wired Mighty Mouse, a wireless Mighty Mouse, and wireless standard mouse. We have the wired Mighty Mouses.
  15. It will be interesting to know what affect the coming ability to rotate the coordinate system will have on this aspect of VW: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=66931#Post66931
  16. That's what I was thinking. And presumably there's nothing stopping NNA from doing the same?
  17. Good idea Tom, thanks. In this case I've found that dividing up amongst floors is going to be more appropriate but your method will no doubt come in handy.
  18. Yes but for it to be a problem with the Mighty Mouse (i.e. the mouse or drivers need fixing) wouldn't it logically necessitate that *all* applications have a problem with Mighty Mouse? Why for instance can I scroll perfectly smoothly in Safari?
  19. Thanks Robert. I think I'm just going to break down schedule into floor levels (there're six floors). I think one problem I've created for myself is separating the door number and flat number. Maybe I should have made this one piece of data (i.e. 01D1 instead of 01| D1). Putting aside the above, what I would have liked is something like the following: Door number | Door Type D1,D5,D7,etc. A D10,D15,D17,etc. B D2,D18,D40,etc. C Is it possible to do this?
  20. Poos. That's not the answer I was hoping for. Just to be clear, forgetting the door and unit numbers, is there any way to have one row for each Type? Say I have 4 doors, 2 of which are Type A and 2 of which are Type B. Can I set up a worksheet that simply has two rows (A and B) rather than 4 rows (A, A, B and B).
  21. I've created a symbol which inlcudes the data: unit (flat) number and door number (allowing for individual identification of each door) and door type, and then created a worksheet schedule based on this data. With 500 doors (and hence rows), however, this has made my atempt at a schedule unruly, and I probably need to base my worksheet rows on door Type as opposed to each individual door. Any advice on strategy? How do I go about editing my worksheet schedule to only have the same number of rows as there are door Types? What about if I want to include multiple door and unit numbers in individual cells (for each Type/row)?
