  1. It's been a struggle for a couple weeks with Vectorworks SP4, but when my best customers started to also report issues I had to find a solution ASAP. Thank you to everyone here that shared some guidance. I spent a whole day trying to get things to work. Ultimately the next morning when VWX support was open and available I reached out to them direct and they shared the trick to make this process easy. Not sure why they haven't shared the solution here on the forum. I hope that if you are experiencing similar roadblocks to your workflow the video below makes things easy for you.

    The Short of it:

"The only way to revert to an earlier update is through the Updater Application.

    Close the Vectorworks Program completely>

While on a Mac, make sure that in your Apple System Settings under Privacy and Security > App Management that the Vectorworks 2024 Updater App (Specifically) is on this list and toggled on>

    Go to Applications> Vectorworks 2024>

    Launch the Updater App>

If you were already previously on Update 3 or Update 3.1 then you do not have the download the update again. All you would need to do to revert is click on Advanced Options>

While that drop down menu is open, hold down the Option Key>

    Click on Change Version

Select the version you would like to revert to" - VWX Support

Hi @MacIntyr I'm sorry you're having these problems. Your current situation sounds very unusual. I think the best thing rather than out here in the forum is to go to the Customer Portal and click the support link at the top and fill out a Support Request Form. That way it'll be in the system with more eyes on it than possibly here.

Previous versions can be downloaded via the Vectorworks Updater>Advanced>Download Update.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Thanks Peter for pointing us toward how to actually see previous Updates to download. I was successful in downloading but not downgrading

    Sadly,

I attempted to go back to SP3 or 3.1 via the Vectorworks Updater application. After downloading the updates, closing the updater app, then opening the update packages, which opens the updater app again, the progress bar just sits at 0. No progress regressing to previous SP

And...? How do revert to SP3.1, exactly? I have the update file on my HDD. What next?

I'm wondering what's next as well. I attempted to go back to SP3 or 3.1 via the Vectorworks Updater application. After downloading the updates, closing the updater app, then opening the update packages directly from Finder, which opens the updater app again, the progress bar just sits at 0. No progress regressing to previous SP

I have gone back to V3 which was stable.  I only kept V4 for an hour or so.  It was clear things were not the same.

I don't mind the teething process with VW's, but this was different.  Things froze quickly, but after the second freeze, my new Mac Laptop rebooted....on its own.

How did you go back to V3? I attempted to go back to SP3 or 3.1 via the Vectorworks Updater application. Thank you Dave,

for now I have solved going back to Update 3, thanks to the Italian distributor that has helped me. Since the main reason for me to update was to try the AI visualizer I will wait for the fix.

I'd like to know too - I often find it hard to find stuff.

Have you realised if you clock on the magnifying glass in the search bar you get this, which can help narrow things down a bit?

I sometimes use "search by author" when I'm trying to find a thread that I'm sure I posted at some point in the distant past!

Thanks! never new this search filter existed under the magnifying glass, a whole new world of options!

  7. License transfer fee paid by purchaser.

We are selling one license that was "parked" at version Vectorworks Designer 2023 (Includes Spotlight, Landmark, Architect, Fundamentals), also happens to have all Designer versions available back to 2018.

Let me know if you are interested.

  8. Hi Dave,

Our team will create a highly detailed model or library of models for your Belfast convention and entertainment centre natively in Vectorworks.

Shall we screen share this afternoon (Belfast time) to discuss the details of your project? Shoot me a quick email and let me know what time would be convenient for you.

We have been in business doing this work for ten years now and I have personally been modeling with Vectorworks for 23 years.

Some venue models our team has completed in the past year include:

    • The Getty Museum | gallery and exhibition spaces
    • Samsung Product Launch | auditorium and auxiliary spaces
    • Gary Vanerchuk's VeeCon '22 | The Minnesota Vikings Stadium
    • and many more venues over the years

Looking forward to meeting you Dave!

    Best,

    Jacob@Tangably.com

Please unzip the attached file and drag its contents into the Vectorworks Plug-Ins folder, replacing the existing ones. This should be able to fix the Remote crash.

Note, you need to run the Quarantine command as follows:

-In Terminal type:     xattr -d com.apple.quarantine     make sure there is a space, after ‘quarantine’, then drag the attached .zip file into the Terminal window and press <return>

-Unzip the file using the Mac operating system's decompression option, do not use another decompression utility.

Please let me know if this doesn't work for you.

    Best regards,

    Iskra Nikolova

    Remote plugin M1 fix.zip 21.94 MB · 12 downloads

This under the hood process was still required for M1 MAX on VWX2023 SP3 on March 9th, 2023.

Followed step by step and it worked.

Happy to have use of VWX Remote App again. Would love to see updates to this app.

  10. ConnectCAD in Vectorworks 2023 promises a new contextual command to Find objects in a report.

    https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2023/eng/VW2023_Guide/ConnectCAD/Creating_ConnectCAD_reports.htm#h1

Is this feature exclusive to ConnectCAD objects only?

I can see this as a really useful feature for all types of reported objects in Vectorworks.

Attempted to use command on door schedule, doesn't appear for door objects.
