Hi, I am still having trouble finding any tutorials for the VW animation but playing around a bit and thinking outside the square the attached files gives the illusion of water moving in a pool, quite cool I thought. Thought you might be interested. Open file and just go Model/Animation works and hit ok on the Set animationworks options. If you have any other tricks i would be interested in hearing about them, even if you think that others would probably know it but at least its out there. Regards

Hi In the attached file 2 objects move along a path, the first one dissapears then the second appears and continues to move. Problem. If you make the first object "Hide before start" no objects appear. Any ideas. Also you will find that the Undo History is cleared after animation so no going back. Can this be changed.

HI, Can anyone point me to some good animation tutorials please. Am using this one http://www.ozcad.com.au/products/animationworks.php but does not have any instructions in the VW file. Move along path is all ok, its the lights and multiple cameras with stopping and panning etc i want to know more about. All the parts to the tool set. Thanks

Hi, I have just posted one about this similar issue. After a crash I lose a few objects and few textures. If you want to re-create it set up a reasonably complicated interior, add lots of lights and a few image props of paintings then render at renderworks style realistic interior fast. Once it starts click on the screen a few times and you should crash the program. You too can experience the pleasure of this happening just before the Boss is about to walk out the door for a presentation. PS. Noticed that after closing VW and not crashing I reopened the file next day to find the last hour of work gone (I did save before closing). So when I went to recreate the textures it said they were in use, use another name but they were not in the resource browser and the class had a generic texture attached , not the original one. One would have to say this needs looking into it as it has happened to others at work.

Hi, Anyone else lost parts of their building when VW crashes?? When doing a rendering (Final Quality) on an internal room the program can start to not respond then crash. When I re open the file sometimes I find some items and parts of walls missing and the back up doesn't even have the information so its start over. It's all random things that can disappear. My computer should be able to handle the rendering and its got some serious gear in it and has a liquid cooled jacket. Any ideas on getting the information back or preventing this, i now save before any render. Thanks

HI, Does VW2015 have the ability to split the screen in order to work on different sections of your drawing without having to zoom and pan all over the place as in other programs like AutoCAD? This would be a great thing to have.

Pat, This is always an interesting subject as there never seems enough options to adjust. Geometrically for theses type of stairs to work with the handrails in real life is to return the landing around 1 tread width and that allow the handrails to flow around. Refer to attached file. otherwise you need to option to break the handrail at certain points as the builder would not usually make the rail to jump up vertically as is required if the rail continues. The other thing I see in this file is the posts go through to the tread below the landing, also there is no option to start and stop the bottom and top post position on the tread, it seems to start at the bottom of the tread if you select the post on the stair. Any way just some observations. Alan

Jim, Thanks for raising this to the next level. My main issue was that I wanted to show Clients the model I was working on, as I saw it with VW2015, material texture, lighting etc and be able to use the walk-through tools. I would like to do this on a laptop or ipad which does not have the power to run the large files in VW2015. I have used Nomad but I have to send the file up and to get processed than download. Not sure if most Clients would want to mark up drawings as it may be a daunting task for the not so tech savvy. They will usually call to discuss or you are with them in the presentation. I think the ability to render your model in the different styles would be helpful, open GL or hidden line etc. You would have to be mindful of the items capacity to render files and the time of the item you have in your hands. (Ipad etc). I first used Unity (a gaming program) to bring my 3d model into and then the Client can walk around their house as in a game. They loved it, it was easy and with the W,A,S,D keys and the mouse, they were away. The ability to use the clip cube and turn on and off classes and layers would also be great. Any ways hope this produces results. Regards Alan

Hi, I find that the automatic plane mode becomes unavailable sometimes. \ wont turn it back on. It even happens with a new file and draw an extruded polygon, then gone,cant use. " Automatic Working Plane mode is not available in the current context" Any ideas?? Most annoying. Thanks

This is a great feature saving lots of time. One issue have noticed is that if you have a door and sidelight set up in the Form section of the WinDoor the Accessibility section is greyed out and cannot be used. Is it that you can only use if a single door is selected and if you need a sidelight you have to put in a separate window??? Which works well in 2d but in 3d you would always have a slither of wall showing between the window and door. What should I know to resolve this? Regards

Jim, Thanks for this. It seems ludicrous that a viewer created would not show (highlight) the benefits of Vectorworks. I would have thought it would be a must to be able to show a Client his project with materials and render styles using a viewer on say a laptop that wont run a large file properly. Here's hoping they add this feature. Thanks

Hi, When I run the viewer and do a walk around I have no materials in the model. Its only a coloured model but in VW it all has the materials etc. What am I missing? Regards

Peter, Yes have done this which is good for the basic units but eventually the design will involve high end joinery so the extrude option and building the cabinet in 3d exactly the way a joiner will make it I found gives me the best result and I don't mind stretching the pieces separately but other staff ask why cant I do it in one go, so I keep asking and searching. Maybe its something that can be added to the next VW update. Especially now the 3d capabilities are so good. Regards

A Cup'd is short for a cupboard. a wardrobe etc. Peter thanks for your comments, unfortunately when you group the object and stretch the object all the components enlarge. So I solved this by grouping all the parts that needed to be longer, then moved the sides that were parallel to the stretch direction so they did not increase in thickness.

Hi, How can you reduce the width easily of an object made up of a series of extrudes, like a cup'd say without individually reducing each part of the cup'd one at a time. have tried the reshape tool. Thanks

Check in the object info palette that you have 3d display set to proposed. Regards

Hi, Any way to remove the join line in hidden line elevation viewport. Solved the problem of straight walls over and beside each other, its the geometry. This one even if I create a rectangle and start the curve from the corner as well as the straight wall and I still get a line. I even have auto join wall on. Thanks
