  1. Are you sure you are not copying an alias? Do a "get Info" on the file you are copying and see what it says it is type and size. If it is the real file, then try option dragging (hold down the option key when you drag) it to your portable drive.
  2. This is what the conference table looks like. PDF attached. Conference_Table.pdf
  3. We CNC routed the shapes today. All went well. I'm not sure what I did to make it work!
  4. I'm pretty sure I heard this calling home thing is something new with VW 2011. I wonder if this means you have to have an internet connection to use VW 2011? I would bet it is the case, and if that is true, I can see it will be a problem for many folks.
  5. Bryan, Did you have the tower running with VW booted at the same time? I'm pretty sure you can't run both at the same time. Don't erase the laptop install yet. I think this is best answered with a call to tech support.
  6. Kaare. I will try your suggestion. I did get the one file he said was open fixed. I'm not sure what I did to correct that. I rebuilt the shape, and I was very careful to see that all the "connections" were closed.
  7. I just opened the file in 2011 and looked at the polyline that my CNC friend said was open. It shows as closed in the VW 2011 OPI check box. I guess I will need to do more experimenting with the file and the DXF export.
  8. Pat, To clarify, I am not afraid of the bugs, I am afraid of the extra time it will take me to deal with the bugs. That being said, the closed polyline check box in 2011 might have saved me some time! I don't want to keep complaining about the bugs in 2011, I just NV to them fixed so I can use the program.
  9. I need closed polyline shapes to use for a CNC router. How can I easily tell if a polyline shape is closed or open?
  10. I agree with with monkey. I have VW 2011, but I can't use it due to bugs that I fear will slow me down too much.
  11. I guess I'll have to wait until I start using 2011.
  12. I tried a new file, and it does not happen there. The file I'm working on was a new file a few days ago. I could not tell you what happened. I'm sure along the way I change the scale, the grid orientation (top/plan), and the grid size. Got to keep working... Is there a way to reset the grid to 0" in front view?
  13. If I extrude an object in top/plan, it's Bot Z is O". Then if I switch to front view and align that object to the grid, then it's Bot Z is .0092". Why isn't it also 0"?
  14. I deleted the light, then turning off the ambient light only makes the objects darker. The shading is still there. See the attached PDF.
  15. I'm sure I've asked for this before. The VW color creation and editing interface is horrible. I would be good if it were like FreeHand or Illustrator. Never the less, I scream every time I need to dig down through endless dialog boxes just to make a new color. Yesterday my wife had to tell me to clam down!
  16. Peter, I tried that and it did not work. I think the shading may be coming from ambient light. I need to test with turning that to 0. I'll report back.
  17. When I turn off my only light in my design layer, that does not update in my viewport on my sheet layer. VW 2010. I'm rendering Open GL. If I create a new viewport and place it on the same sheet layer, then it reflects the turned off light. Is there a way to get the light to update in the viewport without having to recreate everything?
  18. No... Just having another woodworker cut parts on their CNC.
  19. I'm testing files with the CNC person now. So far so good. We worked out the file export settings to DXF, now we are testing to see if polygons work. Fortunately, none of my shapes are complex, so I can redraw them as polylines easily enough if that's necessary. Thanks for your help.
  20. Thanks Pat. That seems to work. I set the radius to .0001 so basically there was no change. I'll have to mess with it and do some testing with the man who has the CNC router. I still need to know if there's a fast way to convert a line to a polyline?
