  1. +1 Plus accepting columns as space borders. And the same for Floor Slabs. At the moment you will look at the Wall Material under a Door.
  2. Do you want a hidden line render mode ? At it is now this means a CPU re-rendering for every view change. I also would prefer to have these modes in OpenGL with GPU. As it looks in Modo or Cinema, this could be possible in OpenGL.
  3. Done. The VWX is the whole building with 7 floors. What you see on the screen shots is only the second floor (1_OG-LEVEL ZEICHNUNG) You can have my DXF too if you want (zipped 30+ MB)
  4. Same here. Did that quite often yesterday without problems, on OS x.
  5. Sorry Jim, these were to pairs of shoes Part I of this thread is about an very old DWG file I found on my disk. It's Le Corbusier's Villa Savoie I imported as a test. Don't really remeber where it is from, I think this could have been done in Microstation Architekt many years ago. This is about Meshes from DWG which is fine now for me except the wishes I listed. In Part II I re-checked if there are any 2015 imperovements of how Architectural Elements can be brought into Modo for Visualization. (The one whith the images) It's a completely different File. This was done completely in VW 2014 doing some BIM modeling. Walls are fine now in 2015, Each Component Class on its own Layer, Faces aligned. Just there are some problems with Faces in the other Plugins as shown by the images.
  6. This is what it does in Rendering. If have a normal version with a 1-sided material and a second version with a2-sided material A 2-sided material will help to show miss aligned Faces but it makes it a) much harder to select these Faces and b) leads to problems in OpenGL and errors in GI calculations. A 2-sided material will not help in case of missing faces though. If I reimport the DXF to VW which works fine in 2015 (but needs hours in 2014) Even in VW you will miss the corrupt/missing faces. (WINDOWS and FLOORS) Miss aligned Faces won't attract much attention in VW as it Volume Modelers don't care for Faces Orientation. Even Cinema as a Polygon Modeler does show them but I have seen problems in GI though. But any other Polygon Modeler like Modo or 3DSMax etc. do care about face orientation.
  7. WINDOWS : Faces are missing. (Front and Back sides) As long as you do not set export to triangulate. (the Missing faces have 4 edges but 5 Vertex Points therefor they come in as 8 2-point Polygons) SLABS : There are most Faces missing. Faces that are there are missaligned.
  8. As you can see, WALLS : are fine now in 2015 STAIRS : have all Faces but many of them miss aligned DOORS have all Faces but many of them miss aligned
  9. Ah, I see. You can set your Text size in mm, but in the OIP there is point units only. So if you select a text you can't recognize or check the text size because you see the wrong units.
  10. I'm also not able to set my Meshes as expected. They seem to have each an other orientation. Some have correct mapping on top, others on their sides ... The only way for me is to no images textures but noise only I'm missing a standard Cube Mapping where you simply set you texture sizes and these get tiled over the whole Geometry, No UVW Maps. Start doesn't matter, maybe World Origin and editable. F.e. take a 2x2 m Photo of a brick wall, set a 2x2 m size in the Material preferences and it is projected and tiled to 2x2 m on all geometry parts from XYZ. At least for rectangular geometry. (If you plan/model in masonry units, that way it will fit on all Walls anyway)
  11. I see I'm probably in the wrong Forum, should be better in DXF/DWG or Solids Modelling  Meshes from VW export really well in DXF and come nice into Modo. I am really happy with that. But beside Generic Solids and their Faces not welded, the biggest Export Problems I have with all Architectural Objects. Windows and Floors missing Polygons, Stairs have miss aligned Polygons.
  12. Works here in Germany under Safari today well.
  13. I think global standards is a cool idea. Being able to set Tools for Stairs, Windows, Doors, etc. setting the Blank file template (f.e. units) etc. not in template files but external config files that can be imported/adapted in future releases would be nice. F.e. for the Door Tool, the settings are saved in the plugins configuration. They will be useless with the next VW release.
  14. I recapitulate : Meshes are fine. 1. Wish : It would be nice if Meshes could get the beautiful red Clip Caps when using Clip Cube like other Solids. 2. Wish : Would be fine if I could convert Meshes directly into Generic Solids though. Generic Solids are fine too in most cases too but they don't export well as DXF. They lose solidity and fall into single non welded faces. 3. Wish : It would be very helpful if GS would be exported in welded Faces like Meshes. If needed to be edited on face level, each can be easily converted back to meshes. Edit : 4. Wish It would be very helpful if I could select more than one GS and to Convert them into Meshes - not just into one Mesh.
  15. Thanks for the Video. I see now, everything works as expected in Orthogonal Views with automatic workplane. No option to rotate in working plane in Isometrics when no help geometry. (2D orientation = ground plane) But unfortunately I loose the automatic orientation mode in Orthogonal Views when standard "3D View" mode is set to Perspektive !
  16. That Tool does great things ! 1. Would it be possible to to deactivate high-lightning of deactivated Vertex Points when using the fence for a sub selection ? (Hasn't that been in VW 2014 ?) 2. It would be nice if this would work not only in Subobject Mode for Meshes 3D Ploys but directly on Meshes. (Or any geometry just like Microstations Fence Tools) 3. Additional it would be nice if that tool would work on more than one Object at one time.
  17. I see that I can do a Solid Addition and then convert that to a Generic Solid Would like to convert Meshes directly to Generic Solids. Edit : Oh, I think I expected to much from Generic Solids, can't f.e. asign a Material to one Face. Beside that they are great for the 3D Modify Tools. OK, I see that I can do everything with a Mesh that I can do with a Generic Solid plus assign materials in Subobject Mode. (Had experienced strange things in 2014 so I didn't think that would be possible)
  18. Thanks Jim. Edited my post above. With Animation ON it works for Grayed Classes, but not in Editing mode.
  19. Is there a way to prevent the Selection Animation for Parts that are Grayed ? Edit : That works for Grayed Geometry when Selection Animation is set to ON (!?) But not when in Object Editing mode ..... F.e. when working in Symbol/Object Editing Mode. The deactivated parts highlight, I can't select them anyway. I could hide all but most times I want to see them, and sometimes maybe snap to them. Also that way it is harder to select the active Parts. (Edit : no not!, just disturbing)
  20. Thanks Jim. I tried but I think a 2D Polygon is not really what I wanted as it can't stay at its position in 3D Leave them in 3D for now. As I see I can draw 2D rectangles in a Front/Back/Side View vertically - only when there is a object behind to give the direction by the blue working plane. For every thing else, 2D means XY plane, right ?
  21. Is there a way to convert 3D Polys directly to 2D Polys ? The 3D Polys make drawing rectangles in 3D much easier because of the 3D snapping. But they don't work for me to Add or Clip surfaces etc.
  22. How to deal with DWG Meshes ? Is there any way to convert them into anything useful ? Like Parasolid Solids ? I mean the don't get the nice red clip caps and are difficult to select as a whole and to edit.
  23. I think I have to care more about that right corner below So it's very good that you are here to show the missing things are just there. Some features are hidden very well though.
  24. When using the method above (Move by Points tool), you can hold down Ctrl/Cmd and select an (new) object while in the tool......... Why didn't you say that earlier  I see this will work for Rotate too. But still think there should no Key be needed as long as nothing is selected. Then all those tools should work like the Selection Tool until something is selected to make the Tool able to do something special.
