Just installed 12 and have noticed a minor increase in speed in Final Render mode. Any increase in render speed is money in the bank in my opinion. [ 11-05-2005, 12:14 AM: Message edited by: Runtime Error ]

Just doing a little due diligence before i pick up a new desktop PC. Is anyone using Intel's Dual Core or AMD?s 64 x2 processors? Are you seeing any significant improvements in performance while using Vectorworks and Renderworks? Thanks in advance for any comments.

I ran into this the other day....confused the hell out of me after making dozens of models. Simple mistake, I'd fortotten to set the layer options to 'Active Only' before viewing the model on the layer link. Once set, problem solved.

the Z data changes in the Layers Setup dialogue box. i set the Z data in the layer before i start drawing, i'll put together a plan or two, switch to a 3D view and all the plan data that i'd set at particular Z co-ordinates has reverted to 0 and the all the layers are at the same elevation. there is no particular instnace which seems to trigger this other than switching from 2D to 3D.

The layers that I'm creating manually through the layer command window or via the model setup command, are not retaining the elevation data that I'm assigning to them. Whenever I switch from 2D to 3D views, the elevation data reverts to '0' quite frequently. Anyone else have this problem? Any sollutions?

IMO, Microsoft optical mouse products lack the accuracy of the Logitech products. I'd have to say the Logitech MX700 is one of the better ones I've used to date. In combination with the VW workspace editor, the MX 700 and its two thumb buttons eliminate a few keystrokes here and there.

I've recreated the model using the model setup and its still creating the same problem? Any takers?

VWA 11.0.1 does not retain my layer elevations entered in the Layers dialogue box. It ramdomly selects a layer from time to time and changes my elevation data to zero. Any fixes for this?

That's OK. I've found it. You might want to update the F1 Help database. In VWA 11.0.1 Model>Architectural>Floor is actually AEC>Floor.

Is it just me or am I missing the Model>Architectural>Floor pull-down menu for creating hybrid objects for 3d use? These steps that are outlined in the Vectorworks help file are not available on my copy of VWA 11.0.1

I've got a buch of contour lines in 3d poly format and set at the correct elevations. Everytime I run the DTM Site Survey command I get a message that reads, "A Miscellaneous Error Has Occurred (20,2)" Could this message be more vague? Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong? I've run this command dozens of times and had excelent resluts until now.

Hi There I've cut and paste a floor plan into a new file with the same layer and class setup in VW 10.5.1. Now my Clip Surface command doesn't work in the new file, yet it works in the old file. Any suggestions? [ 02-15-2004, 02:14 PM: Message edited by: Runtime Error ]

PS The workstation specs in my signature are faux and I'm actually running a Dual Xeon 3ghz with 2GB Ram and a ATi desktop 128 card.

I'm considering acquiring the ATi Fire GL X2 256T video card. I've noticed that the Official ATi Application Certification list does not include Renderworks, yet it includes Nemetchek's Allplan. Do both programs use the same 'engine' for rendering and if not, is it a waste of time picking up this video card?

Ditto....just play around with the settings and you'll find something you'll like. Maybe this is something that Nemetschek could look into; numeric values associated with the slide bars on the texture edit window. It would be nice to be able to share specific transparancy and reflectivity values with colleagues in these particular situations.

Anyone know the best format in which to export a Vectorworks model to Maya? Or maybe I should be asking if anyone knows a way to imoort a Vectorworks file into Maya...

I'm rendering a 21 level tower and every time I use Final Quality Rednderworks, the 6th level symbol seems to render with a texture that's not loaded in the drawing. I've blown-out and recreated this 6th level numerous times to no avail. Below is a link where you can see that the 5th band from the bottom has a texture applied to it even though it doesn't exist.... Anyone else seen this problem before? perspective

I'll second the workgroup reference process....works like a charm. By the way, do you work at NSDA or is just a coincidence that your name relfects that of the storied Vancouver firm of Neale Staniszkis Doll Adams? It's like trying to figure out how to offset a wall cavity line 1" from the exterior of a wall within the wall tool preferences. You need to defer the equation to the in-house Nobel winner for advanced calulus. Some tools in this program are brilliant and others are down right bass-ackwards.
