  1. I have 2 U2412M Dell 24" Ultrasharp. I am very happy with them. The connectivity is excellent. I also chose the above because I wanted 16:10 ratio (rather than the more common 16:9). 16:10 gives me a slightly taller screen.
  2. I have a PC and a mac in my studio. They both have strengths and weaknesses. The most versatile solution for me is the PC, especially as I'm using android for my devices.
  3. I get the same result in 2012 as per your first example. Works as described in you're second example in 2012. Seems like 2D poly's and linework should be automatically converted to 3D polys - but it's not. Otherwise the Send to Surface command should be greyed out?
  4. I don't use the handrail object because it's junk. +1 for a USEFUL handrail/balustrade tool. Preferably a sketch based tool which automatically hosts itself to the stair and slab supporting it.
  5. VW has the potential to be that. It's good to know that the product development guys at Nemetschek may have finally taken the shrink wrap off their inhouse copies of Revit and Archicad and seen where the competition is really at. eg: Live sections materials multiple window support renovation/phase capability live hidden line rendering etc etc etc P.S. don't know if adding 3D surface hatching as a component of a texture is the right approach. Maybe it should have been a class atribute instead?
  6. Thanks. I'll try another firewall and turn OSX firewall off and see if it makes a difference.
  7. Have my new mac mini set up but have an annoying problem. I am aware that 2012 is not officially supported on mavericks but it seems to be working OK (by this I mean it's running just as bad in Mavericks as in Mountain Lion) Any way to fix these annoying messages? I'm running stock OSX Firewall only and these two apps are set to alow incoming connections.
  8. Mine is the 2.3ghz quad core i7 with 8gb ram. I've also added an SSD which will be used as the primary drive. I bought it 4 weeks ago but haven't had time yet to migrate everything over!! I don't really want to go back to an all-in-one - I've got 2 dell monitors ready to go.
  9. Bought my mac mini (2012) 4 weeks ago. Don't know if I should be happy or disappointed....
  10. +1 and mark fixed bug threads as SOLVED.
  11. If you create a new file and create a new wall style then that wall style will not be available in a subsequent new file unless it is: 1) Created and saved in your template file 2) Exported from the working file to your template file via the resource browser. (right click on the wall style then export to your library file) Off topic Personally, I find the existence of two sets of library files counter intuitive.
  12. What you are asking for are two things: 1) Live section views 2) Correct hatching applied to materials in section. Both have been wished many, many times before. Sadly, as of 2015, we are still waiting.
  13. In your VW library you will have a wall styles and a slab styles file. You can create your custom slab/wall styles in these files, resave (and re-open VW) and whenever you use the wall/slab tool the wall/slab styles will be there. Alternatively, you can create a copy of the wall/slab styles files and place them in your user library (with just the custom wall/slab styles in the files). Using this approach protects you from losing your custom content when updating VW in the future. P.s. The attached pic shows the default application library location, not your user library.
  14. I had previously wondered whether the VW video voice was yours. (back to work now..)
  15. Maybe the new feature video will clarify it more but how it's demonstrated in the video (and show in 3D views) is how it needs to work to be really useful. basically it's a 3D locus with a name... The rectangle wall mode looks interesting though. (among others)
  16. That looks like a paneled suspended ceiling detail. Can I ask whats the purpose of the non seen right hand vertical gypsum lining on the lower ceiling section? Is it some sort of acoustic or fire treatment?
  17. You enter a profile edit mode (similar to group edit). You would also need to define the extent or path for the profile to follow. So, create a path (similar to an EAP) create a profile (similar to EAP) and if you need to edit it, then you enter a profile edit mode.
  18. They are either boxed in after or are manufactured as part of the truss.
  19. Using your idea of a "Building Element" tool and adding the ability to create a profile to use with it, you could ditch the slab tool and would have created a ceiling and foundation tool in one!
  20. Should be a little easier with levels I would imagine. But understood. Thx.
  21. Yes, that's what I thought you meant. So it's not really one seamless ceiling is it? I know that they are auto bound and all, but three objects... Would be better if we could assign a user defineable profile to a slab object (ceiling object). That would be a more logical approach IMO. Guess a wish for another day..
  22. OK, thanks. I'm not sure how to create the step down for the ceiling using slabs and walls though.
  23. I should clarify, the ceiling directly above the chairs..not the load bearing components.
