  1. With the stake tool I have set the mode to "set elev to site model data". When I drag around the text changes to reflect the height of the site model, which is great. This information is then shown on our plans. Unfortunately for some reason the mode changes by itself to "include as site model data", now when these stakes are moved, they don't show the accurate height anymore. Is this working as designed or a bug?
  2. Thanks for the reply. I have also tried to clip the surface of the polyline before extruding but that operation doesn't clip the polyline. Have attached the solid subtraction and a polyline with rectangle into a blank document. See Below. Solid_Subtration_and_Clip_Surface_Issue.vwx
  3. In the attached video I have an extrusion, I create a box and then subtract that box from the extrusion. This operation causes the bottom of the extrusion to change shape. Video will hopefully show more clearly the issue I am having.
  4. I have two walls that cross each other, I want to join them so have used the wall join tool with the X Join option enabled. The operation breaks one wall into two rather than doing an X join. Any ideas what would cause this, or is this how it is meant to work?
  5. We would be happy with either width by height, or height by width. At the moment its just larger dimension by smaller dimension. In the settings you can only pick "calculate room dimensions".
  6. The below image is from a new blank file and shows 3 "spaces". Anyone see the issue when using them to show room sizes? Hopefully the same issue doesn't happen for windows, columns and other objects.
  7. Hi Phil I've had a look there and that only seems to be the location of the backup.
  8. Can anyone explain the pattern to where VW chooses to save a new vectorworks file? When I open a file, then go to File > Save as > the folder that is presented is always different. I would expect the initial folder that comes up to be one of the below: The same folder location that the file I have opened is in. The last location that I chose to save a file. The same folder every time. Not a bug or even a major issue, just curious as can;t see a pattern.
  9. Below is a VW file, there is only one Design layer, all classes are on. On the design layer there is a worksheet, the database looks up all space objects that meet certain criteria. The worksheet shows all the spaces that were originally there but if you try and right click > select item, nothing is selected. temp_space_tool_issue.vwx
  10. Any ideas what could cause the below? Try to edit a space and the nodes don't come up. Try to move and the whole thing disappears.
  11. Im in the process of naming some light sources in my files so easier to set up certain renders. I have named a light and that shows up in the visualization pallet, however when I name the heliodons the name doesn't change.
  12. I am trying to set up around 20 referenced viewports. I have setup the first one with the desired layers and classes turned on/off. I then tried to use the eyedropper tool with viewport attributes all ticked, to apply to the rest of the VPs. This had no effect. Can anyone see in the below video where I went wrong?
  13. Hi BCD, have checked and rounding base is already less than 5. The x and y positions in the OIP also have values not equal to units of 10mm. I would have expected that with the snap to grid set to 10mm that providing you weren't using a command such as move or distribute, that they would be moved in increments of 10mm. Maybe I'm not understanding the feature correctly.
  14. This is probably a rookie question. I have my snap grid set to 10mm, however when I'm dragging copies of objects I'm still getting increments of 5mm on occasions. Is there another setting somewhere?
  15. Can someone point out whats going on here? I'm not aware of another setting to keep the dimension as a chained dimension, other than the option ticked in the video.
  16. Have just experienced the below, each step is a separate VP, the only difference in each one is basically one more class turned on than the previous step. For some reason the first VP now shows up black but the rest are fine.
  17. Thanks Taproot, yeah have checked and is set to solid black outline with solid white fill.
  18. Well 2017 and still getting the same issue. Classes all on, use at creation ticked.
  19. Thanks Alan, that works great, I will have to make a copy and try altering some of the nodes to improve my knowledge.
  20. Thanks for the exercise files, about to do some more learning.
  21. I have altered Tui's file from earlier. I have attempted to add textures in a way that I saw in an example file, however I am getting errors come up. Pool.vwx
  22. That would be great thanks Alan, I will have a look at your channel shortly and see what I can come up with.
  23. Thanks for that Alan, it was actually your "fast cabinet" that I used as the basis for the pool. Was quite handy to be able see how it all works. I am having trouble with the origin part and the texture par thou. Ive had a look at the videos on youtube but can't quite find the right info. With the origin, I am finding that if I'm say in the view as shown above "right isometric?", then change the height or any other dimension, the objects become split and no longer on top of each other. With the texture I have tried adding the texture node, select a texture then link to the obj end of the object but I get an error come up. Do you of any videos or links that have more info on this? Thanks in advance.
