  1. Keep me posted. We are considering an upgrade to Lion but were worried about compatibility issues.
  2. I have just upgraded to SP2 and I have found that any use of the spotlight tool will crash the program.
  3. Thanks. That I know - but I want the other way around - I want to keep the snap and selection - but turn off the curser.
  4. Is there a way to have it so the only thing you see is the selection and snap box? I would like to remove the cursor for I find it cluttered to have 2 boxes and a pointer. I am in OSX.
  5. I am just running into this issue in a big way - I would LOVE some folders for both classes and layers.
  6. While the "linear material" tool is clunky - as extending the material requires a double click - I find it far less annoying than using multiple hatches. It also works well with curves (use the "objects from Polyline tool").
  7. The computer was still under warranty - no charge for the work - though it was returned still not working. I had to have it returned to the "genius" bar where it still resides.
  8. John, Thanks! I have just started to use tiles - I never would have thought about using them like this. I appreciate the tip!
  9. I think it would be really sweet to be able to show batt insulation as a wall component. It would almost make walls powerful enough to be their own plan details. As of right now - they are nice to keep track of the assembly but have to be redrawn for the plan details. On a similar note - it would be great to be able to incorporate repeatable items like studs and brick ties as a wall component. You could do this by attaching a symbol to the wall type and then specifying an offset, and a repeat value.
  10. Update: My mac was just carted away today after the graphics card fried itself. Maybe the crashes were a symptom of a larger problem.
  11. I have now noticed that switching between programs and then coming back the VWs seems to initiate the issue.
  12. SP2 has not been released yet - as far as I know. I got a message telling me to repair my disk permissions. I just tried that - I will see how it goes. If not - I will start playing around with settings. Thanks!
  13. I have been able to better isolate the "cause" of my crashes. They seem to happen after switching windows and then zooming. Frustrating. I am crashing about 2 to 3 times more often than I did in 2011.
  14. I know. I have had to reformat all my schedules. Funny how such a small glitch can cause such a headache! VW Please Fix in SP2!
  15. Hidden line is much improved. Still a long way to go to even come close to matching what I can do with sketch up and the free maxwell plugin.
  16. You can associate. It is not the most intuitive but it is defiantly a capability. I find it more trouble than it is worth for most things as you get lots of warnings when you try to dimension things that can not have an association - but it has come in handy in select cases.
  17. We updated to 2012 last week. I have made sure everybody has installed SP1 - but we are experiencing frequent crashes. The weirdest thing is that they do not seem to be associated with any action. A few times now I have crashed when I have not been doing anything at all. Other times is happens simply when I switch windows. This is leading me to believe it might have something to do with the autosaving. Is anybody else having issues?
  18. When I made the move from PC to Mac - I found the floating pallets was the single most frustrating aspect of Mac experience. No matter how much I try, windows end up shifting around, because my working window slips behind the pallets, obscuring needed Exit Group or tool specific buttons. Not having tools in the same place every time slows me down - even a moment of having to find the tool I need drags down the process. I see other people in the office with palets everywhere all over their working surface - I have no idea how they do it. Come on VWs! Most other programs have figured this out.
  19. That is good idea. The worksheet is an auto-generated schedule. It is my first experiment with VW generated schedules. Very pleased so far except for this new little twist.
  20. I may have to just accept that Renderworks is not built to be a true full service rendering option.
  21. I just updated to 2012 yesterday. The conversion looks fine except that my schedules that used to have vertical text headers are displayed horizontally. When I double click and enter the edit mode - the text appears correctly - but when I exit and view the worksheet on the document, all vertical text is displayed as horizontal text. Funny little glitch that is actually causing some headaches as I now redo my schedules in Excel. Any ideas? Thanks
  22. I would like to second this. It would be a hugely useful tool if it could be customized to allow the use of office made symbols. I am trying to push our office to use more of the automated scheduling features of VW - and a lighting schedule along with a workable light fixture tool would be a HUGE addition.
