Jack2022
I am a Landscape Architect who wants to create a play mound using a hardscape slab. Hardscape because the mound will be artificial grass over a concrete capping layer over sub base to build up the levels. The model needs to be BIM complaint with IFC data etc. and everything assigned to Uniclass 2015 classes. I am assuming the correct feature to use is a hardscape. How can I make it a smooth mound? Is there another way? I can only find information relating to terrain modelling but that is for 'soft' areas, this is a hard element to go on a roof top. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
Unfortunately, the hardscape tool is not really the right tool for the job, unless you use it as a texture bed modifier on a site model, where the site model has the smooth shapes you desire. Use a site model with a landscape area instead, that’s what all the cool kids are doing these days 🙂 It will look better in section and give you the desired hardscape characteristics. Alternatively, you could use the modeling tools to develop a free form shape and assign the needed records and data… you don’t have to use Vectorworks built in tools and workflows to be BIM compliant. just keep in mind, a landscape area, site model, or hardscape object are not limited to just what the name suggests…. I’ve used hardscapes to define granite topdressing, turf, pool water, etc. Similarly, I’ve used site models to create roofs and irregular sculptural surfaces. 4 Quote Link to comment
Jack2022
Thanks for the reply. I'll give landscape areas a go for this. Very much learning how to do things the 'correct way' and finding there are many correct ways. So far so good 1 Quote Link to comment
