poormetal
A coworker (new to the program) edited a file consisting of walls. The walls have lost there wall function. Does anyone have any idea what she could have done to cause this. I know I drew them as walls and now I have a file full of polylines and lines. I would like to figure out what she did so I can stop it from happening again. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted August 25, 2005 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 25, 2005 "Convert to lines" will do this. (Sorry if this seems kind of obvious -- I'm not trying to be a smarty-pants.) Quote Link to comment
J. Johnson
On a mac, open apple- k does this- converts a wall to a group of lines. I just tried this as an experiment, and it didn't give me a warning. I use command j quite a bit to join walls, and occasionally accidentally hit k. It's pretty obvious when it happens, but may not be to someone who is new to the program... Quote Link to comment
Ramon PG
Remember you can do a lot of undo's in VW. As a relative newcomer it's saved me tons of headaches. Quote Link to comment

Unless the file has been closed and reopened, then you've wiped the undo history. So it's always good to just double check your file before you close it. That's not because I'm smart , it's because it's happened to me !! Quote Link to comment

DJ Design
All the keyboard shortcuts are list in Appendix "A" of the User's Guide. Quote Link to comment

Also, it is a good idea to use the backup option in the Prefs. Undoable operations are sometimes resolved with going to the backup in the same folder as the drawing document (in Mac, at least) Quote Link to comment
