A.D.K.
So schematic views are great and all, but every time I insert a lighting pipe it creates a schematic view version, leaves both objects selected, and throws the pipe somewhere I did not draw it. How do I stop this? There must be a toggle somewhere, I just can't find it. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
JBenghiat
Are you starting with a file from a previous version? It sounds like the old version had Show Footprint enabled as default. 1 Quote Link to comment
A.D.K.
That's the one! I can't find it any more. Quote Link to comment
JBenghiat
The option is hidden, as schematic views are supposed to be a replacement. There’s not a simple solution to dealing with the default setting being on. Your best bet is to open in 2019, either the original or down-save, change the Lighting Pipe defaults, then open back in your current version. It’s also possible to fix with a script if going to 2019 isn’t an option. Quote Link to comment
A.D.K.
Well that's not ideal. Can anyone from Vectorworks comment on a more sensible fix, please? This is a huge time sink, and running all files back through old versions is another time sink. Thanks though, @JBenghiat! Quote Link to comment
JBenghiat
Go to Tools>Plug-ins>Run Script… and select the attached file. That will run: SetRField(GetObject('Lighting Pipe'), 'Lighting Pipe', 'ShowFootprint', 'False'); I'll file this as a bug. Having the Lighting Pipe's defaults set to always create a footprint on insertion is a bit unusual, so I am surprised that all of your older files have this option set. A.D.K.
IT WORKED yay! Thanks so much, Script Wizard @JBenghiat! Edit: yes, it's weird that it was a default. Must have been just in the one file I chose to drag forward as a template, because I don't remember it's being an issue last season. Either way, your fix is greatly appreciated.
