Vectorworks 2019 wont open any project.

Hi all, 

 

No matter what file or where it is saved, Vectorworks 2019 will not open any projects. It will open and show me a blank document, but once I pick a file to open, it just jumps into "not responding". I have tried moving around files and renaming them. I have restarted my computer a few times. I can open the files from VW2020 easily. I dont know what else to try at this point. 

 

Any Ideas?

1.  Open VW Preferences and click the Reset Preferences button in the bottom left corner.

2.  If 1 did not work locate your User Folder (VW Preferences, User Folder tab, Reveal in Finder), Quit VW and rename or move the User folder. Restart VW.

3.  If 2 did not work, reinstall VW.

Option #2 renaming the user folder seemed to do the trick! My only other strange issue with both VW19 and VW20 is The program will work on my laptop's desktop, but will freeze the minute I move it to any external screen. worked fine for many many months before I had the previous issue. Any idea how I could fix it?

Update: I have finished reinstalling VW2019 and the program will still freeze on my external screen.

Try creating a new user and see if VW runs on 2 screens from the new users.

 

Since you have already replaced your user folder, it sounds like you might have an OS problem.

It may be something with my OS, but only Vectoworks 19 or 20 freezes when I use external monitors....I could reach out to dell but they may assume it's the program as well

Since you say Dell, that means Windows. Check and make sure your Video drivers are updated.
