tay
What is the difference between resources that have different color names in the resource manager? It seems that "line types" are always green, but I see "symbol/plug-in objects" that are sometimes white, blue, or red. 1 Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Black is a "normal" symbol Red is a symbol used as a preset for a parametric object. i.e., a door or window Green is always at paper scale. i.e., it does not change size with the scale of the layer. (Same with line types) Blue turns into a group if the symbol contains more than one object or the object if it contains only one. The inserted instance is no longer linked to the symbol. Often used for millwork profiles. 3 Quote Link to comment
markdd
Take a look at the entry in the help section. It explains most of what you need to know. http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2020/eng/index.htm#t=VW2020_Guide%2FSymbols%2FSymbols.htm&rhsearch=symbols&rhhlterm=symbols&rhsyns= 1 Quote Link to comment
tay
@markdd Thank you for the link! I was reading everywhere about the resource manager, but should have been reading about symbols. Quote Link to comment
OnlySlightlyBent
This is tangential to your original question, but how did you get the file "rollup_doors.vwx"? Is this something you made yourself? I've been searching for rollup doors in the library but I haven't been able to find them. They are much needed too, I often model warehouses, and they are about the most frequently kind of big door found! Quote Link to comment
