Viper x
I am converting numerous tree symbols that are groups into symbols. The process is going OK except that in the Resource browser I am failing to get a thumbnail of the new symbol to display. All I am getting is Symbol-1 or Symbol -2 and an empty void in the small box above where the thumbnail should be ? I have the view ticked as " show as thumbnail " but nothing is showing up ? I have no problem making the symbols active and placing them in a drawing, but is there not an option to have these symbols display as thumbnails, it makes it a lot easier to recognise and choose between all the different plant symbols rather than just a number ? Thanks Viper [ 05-18-2004, 08:06 AM: Message edited by: Viper x ] Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted May 18, 2004 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 18, 2004 When you say you are making these "tree symbols that are groups into symbols", are you sure that there is nothing selected that could be making the bounding box of the symbol very large? Something in the background maybe? Quote Link to comment
Viper x
Not as far as I can see, I copied and pasted a layer of trees (that were individual groups )from another drawing into this current drawing, I then turned them into symbols. They go into the RB ok but no thumbnail shows just Symbol-1 or Symbol -2 etc. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted May 18, 2004 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 18, 2004 Select one of your symbols and edit it in the Resource Browser. Just enter the symbol and then click the "Exit Symbol" button. Does this refresh the symbol preview? Quote Link to comment
Viper x
It worked ! Thanks Robert, this tech board is a terrific lifeline for the drowning. Pass on to the powers above from Viper x that the money and effort is well spent providing this board. [ 05-18-2004, 05:59 PM: Message edited by: Viper x ] Quote Link to comment
