corrupt file retrieval

Recommended Posts

Someone in our office crashed a file (VW11.5, WinXP). Now when we try to open the file, we get the message,

"The file cannot be read because it was created by a beta version of the program."

The old stand-by method of using workgroup referencing to try to retrieve data isn't working -- the same message just pops up when trying to reference the file.

I've never seen that particular error before. Any chance of recovering anything from the file, or do we just have to grit our teeth and start over?

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Kristen

I have posted this before- it really works! I have the PDF if the site doesn't work, by the way...

while we rarely use the vectorscript export, there is a way of 'recovering' a corrupt file that one of the members has on his website. go to

http://www.archoncad.co.nz/resources/resources_tips.php

and download the pdf titled: 'how to Save a Corrupt File'

i have unfortunately had to use it and it works really well, saves a massive amount of time, and keeps you close to on track. hope this helps...
