jckii
AutoCAD has a great pair of tools for instantly turning off, or "freezing" a layer by simply clicking on any object on that layer. Is there a quick, simple and direct way to do this in VW? Quote Link to comment
cairo9
ya, it is a very desired character. Anyday VW is much superior to AutoCad , but it would be great if it can the match layer control qualities, then nothing could be better. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
please remember that layers in AutoCAD are similar to classes in VectorWorks. So what you need is a tool to turn off a class by clicking on an object. I wrote of these tools for myself. Quote Link to comment
jan15
I use those Layer Off and Layer Freeze commands a lot when I work in Autocad. They're so important in AC that I wrote Lisp routines to do them back in 1989, when they weren't built in or even in "Express Tools". But I never think about it when using VectorWorks. Other techniques take the place of those. For example, I toggle Layer Options a lot (Current Only - Show/Snap Others - Modify Others), in combination with the Ctrl-arrow keys for cycling through the layers. And I have all those commands assigned to single keystrokes. And a lot of things I would do with layers in AC I do with Groups in VW. I use Groups a lot, often temporary groups, since they're so easy to create and edit. I have a function key assigned to each of the 4 Group commands. Quote Link to comment
G-Pang
Go to www.vectordepot.com and download plug-ins collection written by shamsul adnan. I think that's what you looking for. G-Pang Quote Link to comment
