digitalcarbon
If the script is not referenced like the 3d components, then how can I make improvements to my library of articulating objects for use on multiple projects? If i want to improve my script in my master file then it will NOT update all the objects already placed in my many projects.... Yes, I can make the plug-in a symbol but then I cannot set the articulation of each individual placement of the Marionette object in each project. What am I doing wrong? Quote Link to comment
Marionette Maven Marissa Farrell Posted April 26, 2018 Marionette Maven Share Posted April 26, 2018 I haven't tested this thoroughly, but you may be able to make the object a Red Symbol; when that's placed it will still allow you to change the Marionette Object. The only thing is that it still wouldn't update your instances in other existing files if you update the script for it, but I can't think of any object that does. Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
It IS a Red Symbol...i can update the 3d objects in the Master library and they will update in all the files that have the Ref Symbol into....BUT the script will not update... Marionette Maven Marissa Farrell Posted April 26, 2018 Marionette Maven Share Posted April 26, 2018 Let me see if I understand this. You are referencing the symbols and not placing a new instance of the symbol/Marionette object in the document? I don't understand what you mean about 'the script will not update'? digitalcarbon
did you watch the video above? it shows the problem... Quote Link to comment
Marionette Maven Marissa Farrell Posted April 26, 2018 Marionette Maven Share Posted April 26, 2018 I'm not sure we currently support this workflow, though I wouldn't consider it a bug. I'll put a note into our bug tracking system. Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
i dont see it as a bug either....but if i have a master library and i have many projects that reference that master library then i want to have all my scripts for my articulating symbols ref back to the master library the same way the 3d geometry refs back to a "single source of truth" Quote Link to comment
DomC
Hi Not sure, if I understand it right and not checked your example. But you could try to save your script network as a black symbol and insert it into a Marionette PIO or a Marionette Wrapper. So you would be able to link the script to a central symbol definition and this could be referenced from an other document (not tested what happens to the Marionette Object). Does that work? Script as Symbol.pdf Script as Symbol.vwx Quote Link to comment
