Viewing Layers

I am using Designer student version. I cannot make more than one layer visible in the normal way. Is this a "feature" of this version, or do I have a setting wrong?

Most common reasons for this:

1) You have View > Layer Options set to "Active Only" 

2) Make sure that if you have View > Unified View enabled, than under Unified View Options you uncheck "Ignore layers with different scales" if your layers do not share a single scale.

Either - your Design Layers are a differing Scales or

You Layer Visibility is set to Active Only.
