Squiidly
I'm a new user of VW, coming from AutoCad ADT 3, quite anal about the look of my drawings, and have come across the following problem: When I T join or L join 2 different wall styles, the cavity lines don't clean up. Only the outside defining lines clean up. I have created 2 different wall styles that have the same cavity definitions, only different wall thicknesses. Since the cavities are the same depth from the outside, representing the same material, they should clean up. However, when I draw one wall T-ing into a different wall style, the cavity lines stop short. What am I doing wrong? Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
You're not doing anything wrong. This is VW behavior. Unfortunately, some architectural conventions still haven't been implemented in VW. But keep an open mind - VectorWorks does have its compensations when compared to ACAD. Quote Link to comment
Guest
You should use the cavity join tool (separate from the wall join tool) to join the cavities and clean them up. Quote Link to comment
PeterT
...Yes, and it would be nice if this tool were available in the VectorWorks "Foundation" application. Unforunatly, unless you you own the "Architect" module, you can join walls, but you can't join their cavities. Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
Katie, thanks, I was unaware of the cavity join tool. How long have I been in the dark about this? I'm sure glad you are still around to help out on this board! It does take a few extra steps to get the lines to all join the way we'd like to see them - is there any thought to make joining cavities a default mode in the case where walls have equal numbers of cavities? Guest
I think it was introduced in VW 10.0.0, so you've been in the dark for a while! I suggest you email your suggestions for the cavity join tool to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net. I don't have a way to log "wishes" at this point. Quote Link to comment
Squiidly
Thanks to all for your responses. I guess I'm going to have to consider getting the Architect module. Quote Link to comment
