Object unable to be selected

Hi There, I am a complete novice to Vectorworks so please bear with me :') 

 

I'm modelling a stage set and after placing a rectangular object noticed a HUGE polygon placed under the ground plan I am working from. I cannot seem to select it. I'm sure it's something obvious, but I'm wondering if anyone can help me remove it.

See what happens if you isolate the layers. Switch Navigation palette layer visibility to Active only, then click each layer.
