Tom Klaber
@JimWThe promo material says that IFC4 export is going to be available in SP1, but I see the option is available now. Is there any reason why I should wait until SP1? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 26, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 26, 2016 The answer I received was that it should be fine now even before SP1, but if you encounter any issues please let us know right away. Quote Link to comment

Christian Fekete
what does IFC bring to the model reporting that normal schedules do not? How is IFC related to walls, doors and other data that come out-of the box? Quote Link to comment

How is IFC related to walls, doors and other data that come out-of the box? IFC is an interchange format, used for working with other people and other programs. Is is the file format used to share the model or parts of the model. If you do not have a need to share the model, and instead will be distributing an internally controlled set of sheets, then there is no need for IFC. The way I understand it is that the out of the box tools like doors and walls com baked in with the correct IFC data to make it easy to export. If you generate your own geometry, you have to add your own IFC data so that other programs will interpret your drawing correctly. I probably am not the best person to explain this - but those are the basics. Edited October 3, 2016 by Tom Klaber Quote Link to comment
