Jim Smith
Can one replace a Door or Window PIO in a wall with a Symbol similar to the way one may change Symbols in the OIP? If not I'll add it to the Wish List. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 22, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 22, 2015 If inserted AS a symbol, yes, but not if its a Door in Wall or Window in Wall as you normally would have it. I think that Door or Window "Styles" would need to be implemented to properly let you replace things like those in that manner properly, which I am also in favor of. Quote Link to comment

thomasj1
It would be a really cool feature to have! Quote Link to comment
AlanW
The way to do it is to explode the window you want and convert it to a symbol then you can replace it with another symbol. Make sure you have the same insertion point. Edited September 24, 2015 by Alan Woodwell Quote Link to comment
Jim Smith
Oh I get that. Or I could use a symbol to start with. The workflow we follow is to use the PIO as place holder that is fast, and can be moved resized etc until DD is finished. The doors may have to be changed from there based on the actual door mfg, code requirements, who the client's brother-in-law is etc, etc. Having the ability to do this more quickly and effeciently rather than one door at a time would be a real time saver. Anything that helps to eliminate errors is a good thing. Quote Link to comment
