D Wood
I want to take a file to an engineering consultant's office and open it on his screen. I don't know what CAD program he uses, but I'm pretty sure it won't be Vectorworks. Am I correct in assuming that if I put the file on a flash drive (memory stick) and a copy of Vectorworks Viewer, we will be able to open the file? Do we need to download the viewer on to his computer or can we run everything from the flash drive? Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
If you don't need to modify the file in any way why not export it as a pdf. Or if you do need to modify export out as a .dwg or a .dxf Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
Do we need to download the viewer on to his computer or can we run everything from the flash drive? You need to install the viewer on to the computer. It can be downloaded from here (no need to include it on the flash drive): http://www.vectorworks.net/support/downloads/vectorworks-file-viewer/ Edited September 7, 2015 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
You could try with an IFC export, chances are great his software can import it (however only 3D objects are export no annotation etc.) If you want to check what the IFC looks like you can use these free IFC viewers, (he can too of course ) For Mac/PC http://www.solibri.com/products/solibri-model-viewer/ For PC http://www.bimvision.eu/home/ http://autodesk-revit.blogspot.se/2005/09/free-ifc-model-viewer.html For iPad https://itunes.apple.com/se/app/tekla-field3d/id868034113?mt=8 Edited September 7, 2015 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment
