For every rendering I make, I have to do 5-25 test renderings to get the reflections and shadows from the HDRI map right. The only control provided is a degree setting that goes from -180° to (+)180°.
This is not intuitive at all and I keep getting plus and minus mixed up all the more since some types of maps are repeated twice within the 360° spectrum.
To get it right is sometimes crucial. Take a look at this rendering, where the placement of the reflection makes or breaks the presentation:
I wish I had some sort of graphic representation of the current HDRI map similar to the Attribute Mapping tool.
The active HDRI map could be represented by a medium-sized floating 3D sphere oriented relative to the current wiew – and it should have easy controls that allow me to rotate the map around a vertical axis.
